    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

If Sreva had ever wondered, she could ask him what it is they are supposed to do here in Hyaline to remain at ease. He’d tell her that it is he that promised a trade, that Chemdog himself is the only one responsible for carrying their weight in the Kingdom. Amet, their King, gave him permission to build a herd in some small corner of the crystal lake realm in exchange for the speckled stallion’s teachings on warfare. So all in all if Sreva were to express any doubt, he could soothe her by telling her she has no obligation other than to remain healthy and happy and do whatever the fuck her little heart desires. He doesn’t read thoughts though and is far too oblivious to ever offer the information freely; he’s not that helpful, really.

A commotion brings his teal eyes to sharpen on a figure moving gracefully through the fog. “Sreva?” his mouth is full and he doesn’t care, chewing it still as she comes into view, a grin spreading on his dark lips. A whicker rumbles in his chest, his big muzzle pulsing with the sound as he reaches out to lip her face gently. His posture tenses, neck craning with the rush of electricity from her presence. He pulls away after tenderly bumping all over her chest, neck and face, checking her over. “And you as well, Sreva…” A dim golden light starts in the east, but the steam snaking from the waterfall persists and wraps them. “How have you been?
