    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    She watched him.

Her brown orbs were fixed on his muscular figure, following every curve and shadow across his pelt. Voudou kept herself in the tree line, watching the black helion approach the land she had come to call her home. He seemed disheartened and beaten, for whatever reason, but that was none of Voudou's concern. His past wasn't interesting, only his personality, but not in the same ways as one would expect. She wasn't looking to interact with some kind-hearted gentleman that was always too chivalrous and far too polite. Voudou liked the critters who had plenty of buttons that she could push, the characters that allowed her to easily get under their skin and become annoyed. Of course, knowing their past was sometimes helpful, to know where their weaknesses and sensitivities were, but she hardly felt like prying into the brute's childhood.

The charcoal minx finally pulled herself out from behind the cover of the shadows, her round belly making her feel like a whale. God was the kid ever gonna be ready to be born? It felt like she had been pregnant for years and years, pulling the extra weight with her was becoming an increasingly exhausting task. Hell she barely had the energy to drag that body of hers to a standing position in the mornings. Her legs moved her forward towards the stranger that was now prey in her eyes, and she appeared almost... happy. Of course, she wasn't happy, but she had found it to be the best way to begin any conversation that was bound to end badly. If she were to come across and vicious right off the bat then she would end up disregarded. After a while she had simply come to the conclusion that to get under anyone's skin they had to trust her, or at least believe her, for even the smallest amount of time. That moment was always when she would strike, stabbing her victims with the right combination of words and touch.

Voudou stopped only a couple feet away, offering her nose out to greet him. "I'm Voudou. And don't mind the bulging belly, I'm not taken."
