    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Ardashir slept in the sand unaware that his mother had wandered (not far) from him. He was in his own mind napping peacefully. His ears twitched a couple times and a leg moved here and maybe his tail flicked around once or twice. The pale boy soon raised his head coming out of his nap and through his fuzzy waking haze he looked around some. His ears would prick up a moment or two before that mild amount of panic he had faded as he saw his mother not for off with another horse.

He raised himself from the sand he had been napping in and with a shake dislodged some of the grains that covered his lower half. The colt let out a small sound as he yawned and started over at a jonty trot to the two mares. He took note though as he moved closer that the red hued female seemed a little on the cautious side or, maybe more that she was shy?  He slowed his trot and took a spot behind his mother poking his head one from behind her.

He knew well enough at this age to not interrupt a conversation between others or, was it more that it was just something you pick up on? Either way he was a little shy himself and so did not greet the other mare just yet. The clouds had rolled in with a gentle breeze as they all stood along the beach. Ardashir swung his tail from one side and then the other as he was glad for the cloud cover. The sun hurt his eyes sometimes and his skin felt tight and tingly if he was out in it too long. He liked to tuck under Tarvelie’s wings when he was feeling overwhelmed by that nasty gas ball. He would surely grow out of it or maybe learn the true power of a good dust bath..
