    Assailant -- Year 226

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The waves rolled in and out in its constant pattern. The noise of the waves had lulled the young boy into a mind sleepy haise. Ard pulled his head from its resting place on the front of his mother's chest and would start to lower himself to the sand. He tucked his front legs first under his chest followed last by his hind legs tucking against his stomach. The pale colored boy rested his head against his mother’s legs with a sleepy sigh.

He had not taken note of the mare that was watching the two of them. She had just not slipped into his field of vision at the moment. Ardashir had been focused on Tarvelie as she was his whole world in these first weeks of his life. He still needed a bit of teaching in his life as he was sure his comment about his new home had been very childlike in its meaning and its delivery. But, with time came more words and those words would better arrange themselves to his use.

Ardashir would meet the other horses that called this place home and with hope become their friend or at the very least an acquaintance to be seen in the background maybe. All this lay on a path in the future for him when he would grow taller than his mother and maybe he would start to ask questions about his lineage. He had already started to grow in the short amount of time he had been taken from the den.

The waves crashed and the salty water seemed to claw at the sand almost fighting against the pull of the ocean as it tore the water back out. The colt let his head fall from his mother’s leg and against his left shoulder. His nose twitching some as he dozed. There was a whole new world for him to explore and roam, and not just home but other lands that were held by other horses. What and who would he become? A tirent making those under his gaze fear or curse his name? A roaming bachelor never letting his heart be tied down to one place nore one lover. A knight in command of his king or queen to protect those who dwelled in their lands.
