    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Even through gritted teeth, the calls of birds that rise with the morning sun soothe him, even if slightly. He found himself holding his breath in a bout of restlessness, perhaps even frustration. However once the sun managed to peer through the entanglement of trees, Dagro exhaled slowly and released the self-inflicted tension. It was uncalled for, really. There was nothing he could other than make the best of his situation and continue moving forward - so why bother wasting the energy on unnecessary frustration. With a flick of his tail, he presses on for a few more steps before a rustle in the forest catches his attention.

He refused to bend to the whim of high hopes. However, curiosity alone compelled him enough to look to the source of the noise. A figure, black as pitch, moved toward him. He flicked an ear forward as she spoke. “I suppose it is.” he responded to her question, looking toward the pale array of colors which dappled the spaces between the trees. “Didn’t even realize it was morning.” it was an offhand, rather quiet comment. He looks back to the stranger. There was a silence that had settled between them. Dagro was unaccustomed to casual banter. After deciding he had let the silence linger for too long, he spoke again. “I’m Dagro. And you are?”
