    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

He realizes that he has interrupted her grazing, but he makes no apology for it - only for mistaking her from a distance for a daughter of his. She is lovely to look at; speckled green, like a bird’s egg though he has never seen one as green as she is. Her loveliness not dissimilar from that of his daughter’s but of an entirely different kind too, and he can see how her amazed eyes cannot keep from staring at him and he knows it is the two sharp tines that spiral up from his head that have made her look at him so. He is entirely too used to such looks to think much of them; they stare and stare and eventually, they realize he is nothing more than just a stallion with a pair of horns on his head, not altogether common but not all that unusual either.

“No, you are not her at all.”
Ceremony was his only daughter to take after him as far as size goes; she had little to no daintiness to her like Keeper and Berry did. She was a bold thing too, very brash with her mouth and he cannot help the way his own mouth crooks up in a little smile at thought of his sassy daughter.

The green roan mare steps closer, much closer than he anticipated her to and it is clear that she is quite taken with him. He cranes his neck towards her, nose close to her own as he inhales her scent then nips lightly at her muzzle. “Mandan,” is all that he answers her with before his nose makes a clear path across the green country of her neck, back further to her wither where he chomps down in a bite of claim. “Orange Country shall be your new home.” He doesn’t give her the option to contest that, giving her a nudge with his nose in the direction of his territory. It’s been entirely too quiet there, maybe she’ll spark some life in it.

ooc: this post sucked, sorry luv!
