    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Elysi and Cometissa;
    #1

    Sahm had taken time to rest in Newton’s embrace. He had taken days within the Tundra to recoup his thoughts and strength. The Gates drama had weakened him. He hadn’t experienced such exhaustion since his father died. The whole event was emotionally tolling- and betraying his parent’s memory simply broke him. Newton did his best to patch Sahm back up with simple kisses and loving whispers, and it was now time for Sahm to venture out on his own and find himself again.

    Being the Guardian of the Gates was a title Sahm had inherited from his father. It had become a piece of him in almost everyway. It gave him purpose. Without such a purpose Sahm simply didn’t feel as whole as he used to. He was happy with Newton and the prospect of their unborn daughter, but ultimately it was up to Sahm to find love for himself once again.

    The walk to the meadow gave Sahm plenty of time to think. Fall was coming to a close so the chill in the air sent shivers down his body. He welcomed the cool breeze as it brushed past his coat and wove through his mane. Meditation helped clear Sahm’s mind, and soon he crossed into the borders of the meadow. The grass had turned light brown due to the season, but still it was beautiful. Hoards of horses stood around chatting. Sahm walked deeper into the border as he searched for someone to meet. Two horses who appeared to be twins caught his attention and he approached them. ”Good evening.” He smiled.
