    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Every Color Of The Rainbow- {Mandan}
    #2
    Control; it is a thing that he lacks, he can no more control any of them than he can control the wind. They are as individual as the stars, and nearly as untouchable because he makes no effort to reach for them. He has long since given up on anything but the way his latest daughter looks at him (looks just like him in fact!), like he is the greatest thing on this earth and maybe for her, for right now, he is. Except he knows that he isn’t, the poison in his heart will be enough to drive even her away one day. For now, he leaves her sleeping in a private corner of the oasis he shares with the rest of the small herd he has somehow managed to accumulate. A strange thing that, him in possession of both land and mares, the natural currency of a stallion and as much as he wants to deny that it is simply a way of life for him, they are starting to get under his skin. None of them are close enough to pick apart the scar that is on his heart, but he has mellowed some.

    Mandan did not realize that in the course of his wanderings, he had stumbled upon the field’s edge. He is taken aback by all the activity and snorts a little to himself, as he feels no reason to involve him the antics that go on. The stallion decides to take a much more direct route out of the field and back to his canyonlands, even as his dark eyes briefly scan the others gathering there for short stays of time. His gaze falls heavily upon a body that is black-haired and green-furred and his heart stirs in him, could it be? She had only left his side but a year ago, and it would make sense that his daughter would come here in search of her own life.

    Despite his initial misgivings that it is Ceremony, the big bay stallion stalks her through the pine trees as she lowers her head to the grass. He is almost certain it is her, so much so, that he calls out her name softly - “Ceremony?” But a closer look reveals that the green is not right and is actually freckled, this is a roan! Not his big strapping green-bay daughter, and disappointment clouds the rough features of his face as he looks at her. “Sorry, you are not who I thought you were.” He is mumbling and downright rude, but do you think he cares? No, Mandan was fresh out of niceties ever since Ygritte stole his heart and spat all over it.

    ooc: sorry no html but i made you wait so long for this piece of poop! lol
