    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

That time of the year again?

Sabe's stomach swelled with a baby inside, it was bigger than any foal she had yet. Her body ached and her feet were swollen, this was by far the worst pregnancy she has had. Chemdog was very absent of late, the only time she really got to see him was when it was breeding season. She gave a snort at the thought, how could he choose Helle over her for lead mare? She gave him a foal every year and what has helle given him?

    Nothing.

Her eyes rolled at the thought, her stomach was contracting all day and she knew that it was time to give birth to another child. She found herself a quiet place, it had a small patch of grass but the rest was just soot. She layed down next to the grass, but the soot proved to have a gentle touch. When the pain got to strong she knew what to do, she pushed. She was soaked in sweat continuously pushing to free her body of the pain that shocked her. Eventually a beautiful bay tobiano plopped on the ground beside her, looking around aimlessly.

But this birth was not the same, the pain did not go away in fact it just grew sharper. She winced in pain and her heart grew with anxiety. All she could picture was that one purple mare who layed cold on the ground after giving birth, was this the same outcome for Sabe? Although she thought she was dying, her body told her to push, so she pushed. She was tired and wanted the pain to go away, a call escaped her maw as she screeched in pain. With one last push the pain subsided, and she looked to her rear to see another foal. Almost a spiting image of the first Oh great, twins she snorted as she plopped her head to the ground. She took a few deep breaths relaxing her body that as worn out from this birth. Chem would be happy, if he could only appreciate Sabe for more than pushing babies out.

Her relaxation was interrupted when the foals blabbered away to each other, she gave a snort and hoisted herself off the ground and nudged them to feed.
