Like every year, after she had the foal, excluding last year, he showed up. Even if the mare often birthed alone, like was common in the wild, she enjoyed it when the stallion came to check up on her, to see how she was faring and if the foal was healthy. Anahi had assessed this foal herself, determining that he was healthy, if the rate he was drinking milk wasn't enough to go by. Even now, she could see the sire of this colt within him; he would grow into a powerful leader one day, without a doubt.
The champagne mare lifted her head, hiding the fatigue in her eyes. She smiled as Archam came up to join the mare and colt, brushing against her as he spoke about the colt. Anahi nickered before gently nuzzling the stallion's neck, almost missing what he had to say next.
Wait... had he really used those three words? Those three words she honestly never thought she would hear? Stallions didn't often pick one mare to be their favorite, much less an alpha, or a horse to use those words on. But here was Archam, using them on her as he continued to smile, elated for the birth of the colt. Anahi had known for a time that she had feelings for him; they had three foals together after all. However, she was never eager to say anything, given that Archam had a herd to watch over. He couldn't be playing favorites.
But he somewhat had, making her the alpha mare. That was besides the point though; Anahi knew she held feelings for the stallion, just as he did for her. So, after glancing back to check the colt that was still suckling, Anahi turned to face Archam. Warmth and happiness flooded her eyes as she smiled at him, reaching her nose out and running it along his neck, "I love you too."
