PHAEDRUS
She trumpets her presence, something that he had never, would never do. No let the others come to you, that is his motto. She scans the area and he begins to make his way towards her warming up his muscles, so that the shock of the fight would not hinder him. Starting with a trot, then making his way into a gallop, the black feathered wings stretch out to catch the gentle breeze. This he uses to force her concentration from his body directly making estimations difficult, his size, and yea ok it is a little bit of an intimidation maneuver. Even just the slightest pause would give him one more advantage than before, the wings added extra mass, and logistic hindrances to any tactical move she would try to make. A blow to the back would need additional movement with the avian appendages in the way.
She is red, an easy color to spot, and latch onto. The spotting of her coat an eye catcher that also makes pinning her movements simple. She races towards him, her mane and tail a banner in the wind, lashing around, screaming out her location. There is nothing stealthy about her. What there is though is size, she was small, he would engulf her with his body through sheer height. When they meet he notes that she rocks back on her haunches, this only gives him seconds to develop a counter. With his left side against her right he plunges forward using his weight to shift into her, aiming his shoulder for her ribs or loins. At this he can feel her knees scrapping his croup, it would leave a bruise but if he kept moving it would be nothing to serious.
He keeps his face low using his momentum to rock onto his forelegs and kick out at her throat latch and cheek. The possibility of scrapping her neck was the least amount of damage he would do. Phaedrus can feel the sting of her teeth on his right hock or cannon somewhere in the mix, he winces more for her then himself. If she wasn’t careful he was sure that his kick would knock out teeth, or make her muzzle collapse with the shattering of her bones. For a moment he feels sick to his stomach on his landing he spins away from her, tucking his wings to his sides, circling to face her and make sure that he hadn’t just killed her in the accident. Usually he is much more controlled and never went for moves that could inadvertently kill another. But her movements had shocked him, and he had countered to the best of his ability with no room for thought on the risks or severity. He is slow compared to her, but his attacks are far more deadly with his size and muscle structure, creating a scenario where they both leave unscathed was becoming more and more difficult.
