    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

you just activated a nuclear warhead

It had been a long pregnancy and Sabe knew the child inside her was going to be a handful. It was always poking and prodding her and clearly was ready to enter the world these past few days. Ruri was a pretty easy pregnancy, smooth sailing compared to this one. She was a bitch to begin, but she always grew extra grumpy when she was pregnant, this was no exception. She had been pregnant for quiet some time and was ready to pop, the contractions she had been getting since last night were a clear message.

The contractions grew stronger leaving Sabe to think the foal would make an appearance today, she had better find a place to birth away from the others. She was not a fan of there move to the volcanic village and to be honest the ground was so dead it wouldn't even soak up the mess from birthing. It would just be there, for them to lay in. The thought disgusted her, she continued on her travels for a quiet place. Her head hung low to the ground, she snorted every few steps watching the dust fly around her, hoof prints with every step flying to leave her coat appear sooty. She was able to remain pretty isolated from the other mares of the kingdom, and just hoped it would remain that way while until this foal was out of her. After a few hours the mare finally found a place to rest, it might have been the place because the contractions kicked into high gear. She knew what the pain meant, the foal would be here by the end of the night.

She was near the base of a mountain, it was pretty out in the open but at least she could see anyone coming her way. She buckled her front legs, rear following, laying down on the ground. Her breathing got heavier and when her body could not refrain from pushing she gave in ready to get this foal out.

It seemed like forever that she was pushing, now soaked in sweat, her ears pinned to her head as she gave another push causing her to squeal. She was finally able to take a deep breath, looking at the ground a foal almost identical to Ruri layed before her. A smile escaped as it was a colt this time, he was a bay dun just like Ruri but he had white markings on his legs unlike Ruri. She turned her head to nuzzle the colt, cleaning him in the process. "Zepar" she whispered to him, her own little demon.
