    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Vianne
    #6
Vianne never gave her own welfare a second thought, and maybe if he had expressed concern over her well being she too would have realized how dangerous her own predicament was when he had left this land so long ago. The strange mare was once a skittish creature as if she had been on a constant  psychic attack, that had paralyzed her with fear. Usually caught trembling and shaking nor was she able move, and her breathing was shallow and uneven at the slightest little movement. It was so difficult to break away from her old habits without the guidance of others to rely on. Even ashamed at times for being who she was. She forced herself to grow away from the shadows that she was so accustomed to, and struggle with her inner indecisiveness. The sun had yet to break through the hillside horizon telling Vianne that it was still pretty early. Never mind it though she was satisfied with the idea of leaning against the much larger male that gave her her lean body a shady tan, just waiting. Waiting for the time to come along when she knew it was right to start talking to him regarding the things that were on her own mind. The air she inhaled through her nose had a smell to it due to the change of seasons. She dared him to do something funny. No. She really did. It was when  he gazed into her eyes that her resentment towards him had left , replaced by a silver beacon of tenderness. Even her facial expressions softened quite a bit, yet it was the beads of water that started to flicker in mid air when she heard him commend her ability to water manipulate " Thank you" with her voice bashfully soft " it's nothing...really"

There was a tilt to her head as she leaned down to investigate his marred sides, taking into consideration and noting every little niche that remained un-hidden by his thickening coat " what happened" asking in confusion and a level of concern. Both of her ears were now half way up as her head flinched back. She felt the warmth radiating from his essence, noticing the way his muscles rippled to decrease what little space was left between them now. Was this a trickery of the light? The deception of nymphs who preyed with folly on their hearts just before the hours of dark? What sort of spell was this to weave its gently malicious way into the hollow contours of her skeptical heart? For a moment she was lethargic, weaved into the way he nibbled on her so much that Vianne had almost forgotten all that she wanted to tell him. To ask him something that could change both of their lives. The mare wasn't looking for sentiments. Wasn't looking for companionship. No... Vianne was looking for something more meaningful than a little ponies fantastical dreams about romance and love. She was looking for her freedom. The speckled mare had  waited this long for his permission and now she was wondering if it was the right choice. How would she know if she didn't take that chance? Pulling away regretfully her head lowered with uncertainty " Phaedrus"  before dawning her eyes apologetically up to him as the soft baritones of her voice mulled " I need to ask you something... I need your permission. Please. Let me go. Let me leave your herd. I don;t belong here" Trying to explain was difficult enough for her, and she tried to reason this by convincing herself that her and Phaedrus barely knew one another besides fleeting moments of affection. Would he allow her to leave?
