    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

    "But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    { i thought the past would last me; but the darkness got there too }
    Its a long way down, and sneaking past his mother is no easy task. She vigilently looks after him, never had the rest of the herd aproached them, never had anyone bothered much to even look their way. It was him and his mother, standing at the ocean shore waiting. Never doing anything, just waiting. Watching as the sun dips and the moon takes its reign then the sun chased it away in a fiery blaze of glory.

    Now he finds himself restless. Not even 6 months of age and the creature is wandering from the loving embrace of the silent serenity. The wind would whisper to him of her hearts desires. He had yet to meet his grandfather or father for that matter. But from what he could tell they were both good creatures.

    What was mother keeping from him? She wasn't mean, not like there was any resentment or quarrelsomeness within her. No it was just quiet. He liked the quiet, but sometimes it got boring. He wanted to watch other creatures from a quiet place. He wanted to see what kept them away from the huddling groups of gossiping creatures. They seemed to enjoy themselves. Why not him?

    Lately his mother had been making the effort to stay up with him through the night. He didn't like the day. It was giving him headaches, and he couldn't see anything. So its always by the guide of the moon that he walks. His goddess of the sky would shine his path. And while his mother was stumbling around having to constantly touch him to keep herself orientated, he himself could see as if it were day.

    The world looked as if blue colored floodlights tinted the bushes and trees, but he could see. He could make out every detail. He could whip by a bush and most would not realize that he had even been there. He smiles for there had already been a few incidents where he had used this to stalk up on a bird or squirrel.

    Tonight he gathers the darkness around himself, walking bravely through the forest. Ever so careful not to make a sound. No he didn't want them knowing who was around them quite yet, but it is only for a moment that he can hold the darkness in place. No sooner does he envelope himself then it flickers and he is once again a buckskin horse just a little more difficult to see then your normal one.
