    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Her mischevious but welcoming dance caught his attention and lured him towards her. His black-rimmed ears were shoved forward and his dark brown eyes stayed fixed on the graceful, petite body of this ballerina.

Suddenly he broke out of the trance and joined in the dance, arching his neck in a playful manner. Unfortunately he had two left feet though, so as he pranced forward he clumsily tripped over his own hooves, catching himself before nosediving into the dirt.

"Good evening ma'am," he greeted the older horse, the change of adolescence causing his increasingly husky voice to crack. He could feel the friskiness that was triggered by the cool air in his bones, causing him to shift his feet as he stood and snort when the fat snowflakes landed on his nose. Gradually this new energy seemed to turn his stiff legs limber and fade the aching in his big hooves.
