    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    Winter in my heart (open)

Following the fringe of the forest, Jupiter trudged on, snorting columns of his breath into the crisp winter air. His eyes were trained on a big bluff ahead but his pace remained steady despite his anticipation for what may lie on the other side. As the distance between him and the hill decreased his eyelids drooped and his legs seemed to gradually turn leaden. Hopefully there was somewhere safe for him to sleep ahead so he could recuperate from the hours of travelling.

Finally he mounted the bluff. An ocean of golden, rippling grass stretched miles and miles in every direction except for east, where the forest was. The colt blew out a long sigh and made his way down to the plain. A tiny gray speck in the distance caught his eye so he stopped and squinted to see it better. It appeared to be a horse jumping around. He snorted, perplexed by its erratic movements. Jupiter felt himself being tugged by curiosity towards the horse but his exhausted body begged to rest. Finally his foal-like nature shone through and he started walking towards the strange horse.
