No matter how hard you try sometimes you can not pretend to be something you're not. In this case Ygritte was trying to be confident in herself. She knew she was about to enter a new chapter of her young life and rather than stand in the field and wait for destiny she decided to reach out and grab it for her own damn self.
She stands a whopping 15.3 hands in all her glory. The color of a new copper penny but where black would typically stain a bay equine was the color of salmon. Not that crazy nowadays where there were green and pink and glitter ponies running a-muck. Long, long ago she had heard rumors of the Amazon's Jungle. Her mother had reminisced a time or two about the days of the Jungle and it made the then tiny Ygritte wide eyed and curious. This place sounded amazing!
Fast forward a few years, long after her mother had disappeared and her father...well she didn't really remember him so there was nothing to say about him honestly. Slender limbs bring the young mare into the humid embrace of vines. The rawk-rawk of the macaw gave away her locations only moments before the chortle of unseen monkeys joined in. In effort to announce herself as friendly before someone "greeted" her as an intruder, she calls out. Lobes waltz while a dilation of her nostrils instinctively scent. "Hello?" Two syllables are all that drip from her lips as she anticipated one of the Amazons.
Ygritte was nervous though she hides it well and holds her ground firmly. This was not the time for foolish anxieties. These mares would be her new sisters, herdmates. First impressions can last a lifetime and the young woman was damn sure going to make a good one.

QOTY
"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura
