    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

At first it seems that Wynters will brush away Luvi’s concern, replying brightly that this time, at least, she had not actually hit the ground. At that, a small smile had appeared on the palomino’s face, one that remains even as her companion grows more somber, quietly agreeing to accompany her to the Waterfall. That’ll fix everything, Luvi thinks, her faith in the magic of their homeland enough to keep her worries at bay.

Ravin’s frown had remained despite Wynter’s lighthearted reply, and though he cannot hear what is said between the pair of them, Luvi does not seem distressed, and the young stallion determines that whatever had happened - was happening? - was not something that was about to be discussed here on the mountainside.

So he turns and carries on, moving ever upward in the thickening fog. When the feathers along his spine begin to tingle, he slows so that the other two will catch up with him. Though bold, he is not foolish enough to plunge into unknown magics alone.

“Hello?” Luvi calls out, “Is anyone there?” Ravin’s slightly deeper voice follows. Luvi shivers, feeling as though something settles across her skin, but reminds herself to not be afraid. “What’re you going to ask the Mountain for?” She asks Wynters to distract herself.
