What’s it like to fly, she asks, and even the thought has him smiling.
“Pretty great,” Ravin replies, “I don’t even know…like a jump, I guess, but it never ends. And there’s not just forward and backward or to the side, there’s up and down and angles and the wind? It’s just, it’s great.” Not an especially verbose or descriptive explanation, but certainly enthusiastic, ending with a satisfied nod at the thought.
The young stallion has already all but forgotten the less pleasant parts, like how long it had taken to make sure his wings were strong enough to carry him, and the countless failed attempts to take to the sky. He is focused instead on how the world had seemed suddenly smaller, and the desire to find something - someone - new had come to him.
And Razaranje is certainly new, and the Valley she speaks of is not Topsail’s Valley. Or perhaps, was not at the same time. He has devoted very little effort to understanding the way that mysteries like time and magic work, and he is unlikely to do so anytime soon. A quiet shrug and a “Dunno” are all the answers he has for her query. It didn’t seem like something she was enjoying thinking about, so he does not press.
“It’s that way,” Ravin tells her brightly, gesturing toward the east with his feathered head. “It’s a kingdom. My whole family lives there. It’s....” He trails off, trying to find the right words. “Kinda boring, actually. That’s why I came here. ”
