    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

He’s fine, the dirt-faced stranger says, but there is a suspicious lift to Luvi’s golden brow that suggests she thinks otherwise. He elaborates - the dirt is an attempt to cover glowing markings - but it is the mention that they make it difficult to see that truly strikes a chord. She might have laughed (and he does look rather silly) but there is little that she would not try to see better after nightfall.

“I hope it helped,” she replies, glad for this distraction and the presence of someone that does not seem inclined to eat her. Ruhr will probably forget her, as he does nearly every time, but it seems that this time she will not wait for his return alone.

“I’m fairly sure I’m real,” she replies, “but you’re welcome to check for yourself.” Luvi stretches out her golden nose, the gesture inviting him to do the same, and feel for himself that she is flesh and blood. She intends to go invisible and intangible the moment he does, and her glee at the planned prank adds a sparkle to her blue-grey eyes.

She’s never tried something like this on a stranger, but her family are frequent victims, her siblings especially. She’s been trying to get just one body part to go invisible or sublimate (imagine the way her brothers would squeal if she could get just her head to vanish!), but the ability still remains just out of reach.
