    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    FREJYA

She followed the filly's gaze as she looked around the forest, questioning where exactly here was. Frejya wasn't completely sure but based on the trees she could make an educated guess. "I think this is the Chamber. One of the kingdoms that is still around." She had heard whispers about the rise and fall of old and new kingdoms but had never actually ventured to find them. "You probably do have some family. Somewhere. Beqanna is very large." It was an attempt to reassure the girl. The world was large. Likely the girl, and even Frejya, had relatives somewhere. Her attention returned to the girl as she squinted at the mare, comparing her to her mother. She wasn't sure what to say in response. She knew she wasn't the girl's mother. She did have a daughter somewhere. A daughter she had abandoned along with everything else that had remained of her life.

She chuckled softly when Sol stated her mother liked to fight a lot. "I come from a family that liked to fight a lot as well." They never seemed to be fighting for the right reasons, though Frejya didn't say that. A small frown crossed her features at the filly's hopeful tone when she mentioned maybe Frejya knew her mother. The mare had spent so long hiding from the world that she really knew nobody anymore. At times she wasn't sure why she hadn't just taken a nosedive off a steep cliff. Likely the fear of confronting her family in hell had kept her from ending it all.

Her name is Nocturnal. The name had barely left the filly's mouth when Frejya felt her stomach pitch and her muscles all stiffened, feeling like her body had suddenly gone ice cold. Her breath left her like she'd been kicked in the chest as she stared straight at the girl's face. Sol. Your name? The words seemed so distant and faint against the ringing in her ears. She inhaled sharply and struggled to fight back whatever emotion she was feeling. Anger? Sadness? Shock.

It was not Sol's fault. She suddenly felt a hot burning in her chest at the thought of her mother abandoning another daughter. Her body still stiff as a board and never moving her gaze from the girl she choked out "My name is Frejya." Her voice lowered to almost a whisper, air forcing the words out of her throat "And my mother's name was Nocturnal."

The dragon stirred against the heat burning inside of her.

if i lead us all to ruin, we will burn in hell together
