    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I’ve bled for less, for sure, then best…

As the residents gather, she stands as an immovable presence, her years of life experience not leaving any room for hesitation in confidence. The raven atop her horn shifted its tattered wings and made a soft gwoh sound as Shadowmere dipped her head to the elder wolf general, happy to see the familiar face among those who gathered. “It's a pleasure to have you back.”, she says with a hint of warmth. She then turns her head to the voice that rises next, a grulla stallion with a companion like her own. With another nod, “It is Shadowmere.”, she replied in her graveled voice, the only hint of her true age as she addressed him earnestly. A fellow friend of corva, she wouldn't mind speaking with this stallion further.

The next to join the small group was one that had her heart twist. Her eyes widening and she held back a shrill cry as she realized this panther was not Naga. No, this panther was kissed with rose gold rosettes and her eyes were not the same striking green as her traitorous daughter's. Though she wondered if this was also a child of Atrox…the sleek panther she had twice a tryst with. She couldn't help the twitching of the skin on her shoulders looking at the feline Iliana, not Naga, before she drew in a deep breath to keep her composure. She could not waver. Not now. “A pleasure, Iliana.” ,  she responds with a tone more steeped in honey than before. A reaction she could not help, as if she were subconsciously making up for the twisted reaction she had at the first sight of the black velvet feline.

The next speaks and her head turns to take in the elder buckskin, holding his gaze with equal intensity and took his words in with honest consideration. She remembered the reign of the raven queen, and her children. During that time she had spent much time hiding within the deepest parts of the Chamber's forest, dealing with her inner demons and the madness that had plagued her mind with each child stolen away by Naga. “Well met, Kavi. To dedicate oneself to the land in such a way is noble indeed. This tree and land are sacred, so very special.”, she pauses and turns her scarred face toward the burning tree behind her then back to the eternal buckskin. “Perhaps another caste is in order? Keepers of the Flame, for those of you who wish to dedicate themselves to the veneration and protection of the sacred tree.”, she says as her eyes gleam with genuine warmth. For one to be so dedicated to this place was important. The knowledge that the Chamber was so beloved by those who had walked in its shadowed forests long before the cataclysm and returned was enough to make the fire in her heart blaze brighter. She was a Chamberling through and through, and she was determined to be a great leader.
