    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

A relit cigarette never tastes the same, and thats all I'll preach about rekindling old flames

Just like all nightmares, her own living one is afraid of the light. It pulls back and retreats into whatever hell-hole it resides him, leaving her mousey flesh as flawless as it had been before. It leaves her mind, too, taking with it all recollection of her time under the curse. She is still Topsail, but the present Topsail and the past Topsail are wildly different beings.

His trepidation gives her pause, and she cocks her head at him curiously. Nothing about her is overtly frightening; to the contrary, she was always underestimated. Small in stature, unassuming in color. Her power came from within and the way she carried herself, and not from brute strength of muscle or magic. Not anymore, anyways. But those days are long past, and she cannot flash too sharp teeth to scare anyone. So she offers him a smile instead.

Unaware of what transpired in the night, she relaxes her stance, her hawk wings drooping slightly along her sides. "Ravin. I'm Topsail. I've no idea what a Moonspeaker is, but it sounds fancy." she says, her voice working its way into his mind. "Sorry for the intrusion, but the Gods thought it would be funny to make me a mute but also a telepath." If its one thing she's learned over the years, its that the intrusion of her voice into others minds is often unsettling. The old Topsail wouldn't have explained and certainly wouldn't have apologized, but she is making an effort to turn over new leaves. The darkness doesn't own her anymore, not unless she wants it to.

    with love,
    topsail
