    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

i burn from the hell i've seen, but the devil can't hold me down

The autumn chill threatens to climb through his skin and into his bones. It searches and prods, but is met with a resistance that only fire can bring. He is fire made flesh, a living embodiment of the consuming power that is burning. It brings chaos but leaves rebirth in its wake. Cold only brings destruction, and the cold cannot penetrate him.

Her voice matches the night around them; dark, smooth, mysterious. Each syllable is wrapped in velvet then dipped in oil, and he finds himself clinging to each letter. On others it may sound eerie, but it suits her perfectly. She is unlike anyone, or anything, he has ever met. The opposite to him in almost every way, but thats part of her allure.

If she is a spider, then he is the fly who flew straight into her web.

Her simple statement reaches his ears, and he offers her a handsome smile in return. He knows all too well the lure of favorite places. His favorite haunt is The Meadow, with its open skies and young forest. His other form is always just under the surface, begging to burst free and tear across the sky. Tonight though, tonight is a night for setting old habits on fire and letting them burn for good.

"To tell you the truth, I don't really know. I know I do the same things over and over, and tonight just seemed like a good night to break that mold." he says, rolling his shoulder in a shrug. "Recently, I was gifted something that seems more suited to the darkness, and I figured I would practice." There is a light-heartedness to his tone, a cadence that is the opposite to hers. He is sunshine and flame, and she is darkness and depth. The smile falls from his mouth, replaced by something more serious as he closes his eyes and shifts, his blues and oranges replaced with the dark void of shadows. He knows she won't be afraid of him; predators rarely are. But he still watches her closely for a reaction, in case he needs to bring the light to scare away the dark.
