    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Tersias isn't on his own for long, A mare joins him and he notices the scales on her hip, the faint light of the moon and the soft golden glow he radiated catching on the patterned surface of them. A faint grin tugs on his mouth when she comments on the night in a deadpan fashion.

He wonders if that is how she always talks, and knows there's really only one way to find out.

It was a nice night, at least for him, but Tersias doesn't remark on that. "Nice scales." He dips his horned head a little in acknowledgement, finding it amusing that they're cut from the same colour scheme. Was she family somewhere? The gold and black stallion had grown used to seeing ghosts in the occasional face, unaware of the exact relation and fairly uninterested in ever discovering it. He had his direct family, knew them and loved them, and they had become a little scattered over the years, it didn't take much to imagine that the same thing happened to his parents' siblings, and their parents' siblings.

And then, because he could talk about the state of the night any time, including with himself, he grants himself permission to be curious about this stranger. "Do they only ever grow in that one spot?"
