In a world supposedly reigned by mortals, Beqanna thus far seemed to have more than its fair share of beings better relegated to the places above or below. Perhaps below more often than above, Lillia mused, thinking on her meeting with the demon Niklas. Then again, there have been kind folks, too. At this, her mind conjured an image of Myrna Golden-Smile, leader of Heaven's Gates. Leader of the earthly form of that namesake, Lillia chided herself; but then, she tossed the notion of over-indulged zealotry, figuring that if the Gods had wanted her to be a pious evangelist during her time on this plane, they might have at least given her the training to do so.
Ah, to hell with it. Chasing these thoughts around her skull felt as productive as counting the clouds in the sky. But the angel's grumbles? Those could not be silenced; Blame the weather, she intoned internally to no one in particular. I would be such a good little angel if not for the weather.
And if not for the intruder, it would seem.
Time slows and dilates in the moments after her disgraced snort. She uses the pause to take a good look at her would-be adversary, in his incredible height, gawky composition, and extraterrestrial inelegance, nevermind the antlers and fangs. And yet in the time she took to discern his nature, it was not these latter features which most capsized her bad mood; no, for all her lack of evangelical training, she had had her fair share of run-ins with the demons and imps of the outer planes. No, it was the former features of clumsiness and spookery combined with the plaintive bleats of apology that had Lillia's frowning lips twitching in kind-hearted betrayal at the corners. With such a kind soul lamenting for his gangly body's poor perception not two feet from her, she could not but relent.
"Hush, hush," she chided. She spoke as she began untangling her limbs and making to stand from the down of her nest. "I know all too well the irritating side effects of storms, and though I was just about to see myself through this one with a little nap, I am not one to turn away good company." On all fours now, she could not help but indulge the little evil inside her angellic breast; she snapped her tail and looked pointedly at the small trail of destruction left in her nest by the skeletal stallion's initial misstep and subsequent tottering. "Even if said company does take pleasure in destroying one's perfectly good nest."
Tossing her small, shapely head, Lillia righted her halo and gave a great shake of her body, her wings ruffling to double their size. A great gust came up at just that moment, and she pinned her ears and snapped her dainty teeth at the offending element as though she might do a thing about it. Harrumphing, she refocused on her visitor. Extricating herself from her bedding with careful steps, she approached him directly, turning her head to meet his gaze just-so as she did. Without ceremony, she pressed her pink muzzle to the stallion's shoulder and ribs, prodding their thinness with a zeroed-in curiosity. When she finished her inspection, she right-faced and looked up, up, uuuuppp at her dazzlingly-tall friend.
"You are dazzlingly tall," she pronounced with awe in her voice. "And skinny." This with no uncertainty. "Are you eating enough?" She quirked her head, nostrils wobbling inquisitively. "Does it hurt? I can help if it does."
