The autumn air is warm and smells of leaves and sunshine. There is no floral scent at all, I note, save for the perpetual aroma of the Gates that lingers on my golden coat. I take another, deeper breath, and smile.
Perhaps this is what Ravin had meant when he’d said it felt good to get away from home every now and then.
Ahead of me, someone stands along the path. Unaccustomed to seeing others, I smile excitedly and pick up my pace until I stand before him.
I look over this unfamiliar stranger. He is tall, and his legs are a darker shade of orange than any lilly I’d seen, and are offset by the warm brown of the rest of his coat. As someone equally accented (my golden coat is highlighted by the many shades of sunset in my feathers) and appreciative of beauty, I find them interesting.
“Hello. I’m Luvi. I’ve not seen you before; do you come here a lot?”
