    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

I'd almost forgotten about the stranger in my amusement at my twin's tumble, but I soon follow her gaze back to where I'd last seen the other foal. There's two horses now, both strangers, and I quickly turn to trot toward where my mother is heading to greet them.

"Hello!" I say to them both, stopping just beside my mother. At only a year old, I still have some growing to do, but it seems clear that someday I will be taller than my mother. The same cannot be said for Luvi, who despite being born first had quickly fallen behind in height. She takes after Ruhr, our mother had said.

I know that Luvi will not introduce herself, and I can tell from the hard eye that mother's giving that I should have already done so, so I continue with:
"I'm Ravin, and that's Luvi. " I know they already know our names, but I've no desire to be called by my sister's name.

"Welcome to the Gates! Wanna go chase some adoraburrs with us?!" The last is directed to the younger foal, but at the sound of my mother's faint huff, I add: "If your mom says it's okay?"
