    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[open]  The Sea Shall Rise [Birth]

Astelle had only been alive for a couple weeks, but she had turned into quite the adventurer. The filly enjoyed the last few days galloping through the Dale's fields, learning the terrain of her home. She never strays too far, always under the watchful eyes of her mother and father. They had warned her about those who lurk in the shadows - about those who hunt little ones like her. So, Astelle makes sure to never run too far ahead, always checking to make sure they were in her view.

Today, her father had taken her to the beach to look for seashells. Astelle had found several interesting ones - golden whelks, banded tulips, calico scallops - and each time she brought them over to her father for him to admire too. He explained that some shells were the remains of old clams, and that other shells were abandoned houses of small crabs. It was all very fascinating to the wide-eyed, bushy tailed filly.

It is a quiet, chilly spring morning on the beach. Waves broke gently upon the shoreline, washing up all sorts of creatures - jellyfish and mollusks, seaweed and dead fish. Astelle's eyes scan the beach as she trots ahead, her father straying behind her. Nothing strikes her as unusual until she finds someone standing just above the water's edge. Her breath catches as she sees the silhouette of an equine before her - he looks to be around her age.

Astelle stands motionless as she watches his eyes scan the beach and then meet her gaze. "Are...are you okay?" She asks, taking a step back, but never letting her eyes off the colt.
