I make excuses to stay away from home

I'm looking for an answer in my heart

I'm looking for a fresh start

I need a reason to keep on living in the city

The struggle relents. She doesn’t see the snake sink it’s fangs into her murderers neck, doesn’t see the Queen sear into his skin with her eyes.

The events in the tangible world are not hers to view anymore.

The call of home is stronger now and there is a pair of red eyes in front of her (not her son, not her father, not her brother's) filled with so much love and adoration and she sighs softly. “There you are.” She exhales and stills, the last signs of life leaving her golden eyes as blood pools at the corner of her upturned mouth.

The peace that had eluded her through her long life finally settle on her smiling face as her heaving sides fall and never rise again.
