    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

[TAKEOVER]  even your emotions have an echo in so much space

this is going to break me clean in two --
this is going to bring me close to you

The bright-eyed stallion prowls through the lush jungle for several hours. He finds the scent of Wishbone frequently, but never fresh. The same is true for Sickle, and Gale wonders if perhaps the Pampians had stolen the purple queen as well as his young daughter.

He has no better luck at finding Warden.

By the time the sun is setting, the brindle stallion is standing in the water that flows from the fourth entity. His entity. He’s collected all of them now, he thinks - the tree, the shield, the stone, and now the water. There’d not been nearly enough blood shed in the getting of them, but there will be time for that later.

Reaching toward the waterfall, he pulls at the magic. There’s a crackling in his chest and a bright flash of lightning across his skin. Something splinters, and shadows ooze out from the places where scars have healed glowing cremello on his navy skin. The scars heal entirely as the water washes over them.

When he makes his way back up the bank, the shadows remain at his feet, curling up like smoke and snakes and slashing claws, visible only in the faint glowing from the few remaining stripes of brindle along Gale’s neck and chest. Gale turns to look back at the waterfall, his ears listening to the rumble.

It would transform Hyaline, he knows. There would be no more still lake beneath the moon. Does he want that? The indecision appears as a growing scowl on the navy stallion’s blazed face. A gust of winter air - remarkably cold here in the warm jungle - rushes down on him. Gale thinks of the black lake at the heart of Islandres; now that would be a good place for a waterfall.

The sky grows darker, and stars begin to appear in the deep turquoise the stretches from the east into the still faintly golden glow of the westen sea. He has long been fond of this particular sunset view (albeit from farther west still). His host has faint memories of a mare named Isilya, but when he pries farther finds nothing but blinding ache in the back of his skull.

Almost without thought, he places his head beneath the water again. The puffy white clouds of his forelock don’t sink, instead stopping just at the water’s surface and hovering there till he raises his head again.

    There’s no pain at all.

    He smiles.

Just making this post so it’s official. Gale will have a kingdom gathering (ish) later and there will be an ooc activity check to update the board.
