    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Tiasa is fond of being admired, no matter who is her audience, so she stands patiently, reverently, as the girl reaches out to touch her silver and teal skin. It endears the stranger-sister to her, being appreciated in such a way, and encourages her to actually listen and pay attention to the words spoken instead of brushing them off.

This mare does not fear her father, though maybe she should. What she feels when the young girl tells her that she wants to see something, asks her not to tell, is anger. No one should live like this. She hides the anger, though, doesn’t let anything beyond a spark in her blue and pink eyes show.

“I promise I won’t tell.” Tiasa says with a warm, kind smile. One of a girl not quite so jaded at the world as her. One of a girl that could be trusted. “How about you come with me? We can go on an adventure, and if you want I’ll help sneak you back in here afterwards.” Really what she’d like to do is bring the girl out and take her far enough away from these islands that she can’t find her way back. A cruel act of kindness, maybe, but Tiasa thinks it might be the only way to break these chains.

She’s of a mind that everyone would be better off if these islands sank into the sea.

“I’m Tiasa. I think we’re sisters.” She decides to add, wondering if it will help her seem trustworthy and not just some weirdo wanting to steal the girl away from her home. Even if blood isn’t something she shares with this girl, it’s not a complete lie. Anyone who escapes the islands, even for a little bit, is a sister.
