    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

if i stare into the abyss, will it stare into me?

Skeleton Ghoul notices the more exaggerated wince, but he chooses not to comment on it. Whatever the boy had done, or whatever had been done to him, is really none of the stallion's business and he doesn't presume to know Nashua well enough to ask. At least not yet. If the wincing and ginger movements persist, perhaps he will say something.

The boy is lightly boned and fine, as so many are here. An elegant, arching neck, slim(mer) profile, and muscles that suggest speed and agility over power. Those are traits Skeleton Ghoul will never have. He can gallop, absolutely, and he can do it fast -- in a straight line. Otherwise, at speed, the titan has the turning radius of a bus and he doesn't know how to do a three point turn. But chain him to a hundred year old tree stump, and he will pull it out of the dirt.

Tilting his head just a bit, Skel twitches an ear as some imaginary fly bothers it. It's a tick that comes up periodically -- even when there are no flies, the giant's skin will twitch and shudder as though there are. He's not sure why.

"I am patrolling," he states simply, looking at the path he's worn in his many trips around the border. "There may be no strangers in Taiga, but that does not mean the borders should not be watched. If a stranger comes here with intent to do harm, I want to know about it. That," Skel takes a breath and snorts. "and there is a wolf pack that includes some of Taiga in it's territory. I am working on changing their minds about that."

A big, empty white eye peers at Nashua. "What are you doing out here? On your way to somewhere else?" It isn't really accusatory -- just mildly creepy, as Skel is sometimes prone to being.
