    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Occasionally, Tamlin likes to talk to someone he isn’t related to. His herd of a family provides quite a lot of socialization, and he’s not one to wish to be on his own very often. Couldn’t imagine it actually. What would he even think about? Far better to fill up any silences with conversation - even if it’s just idle nonsense (which is, by far, his favourite type of conversation).

The trip to the meadow was dreadfully boring all on his own and by the time Tamlin arrives, he’s ready to talk to the first soul he sees. Anyone would have sufficed but there’s a special sense of delight that sparks through him when the first soul isn’t a stranger - it’s someone he knows! And not a relative!!!

There is absolutely no hesitation in the young stallion before he approaches the gold-and-ivory mare he last saw as a filly. Not even a flicker of a thought that she might have other plans for the day, might be heading off to see someone important.

The brilliant chestnut of his youth has faded to a grey, except for a mark upon his shoulder, and his fuzzy mane now cascades and curls around the forget-me-nots that speckle it. But that grin, wild and delighted, is the same as it has ever been.
