    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Daughter of the forest // Any

Once upon a time, there was a young girl.

She was beautiful, and sweet, and had a fierce sense of adventure. It was because of this adventurous streak that one day she decided to leave the care of her parents in the forest to seek her own fortune. With a smile and a kiss she bade them farewell, setting out from their quiet glen off into the beckoning world.

The wild garden of home loved the girl and decided to take it upon itself to follow her on her adventures. They took it in turns to mind her and do their part to keep her from homesickness. With the heat of summer, wisteria vines bloomed and twined with the inky locks of her mane and tail, sweetly perfuming the air about her. Like a fairy of old she made her way from the depths of the forest and into the west. It wasn't long until her path brought her unknowingly into the Taiga.

Trees soared higher than she'd ever seen, massive ponderosa and redwood that made her feel small in the world. The lithe girl smiled at them, humming softly to herself in the misty silence. Shadows grew long as the day aged. She had been walking all day and had yet to come across another soul. Growing tired and a bit hungry, the spotted girl began looking for a suitable place to rest for the night.

Finding a hollow in an enormous tree, she lay down to rest in a bed of pine needles. The night was cool, and lonely without the familiar voices of her mother and father murmuring in the darkness. Starting her song back up, and thankful to the homey scent of wisteria in the night, the filly dozed against her tree until dawn.

Scheming took up much of his time here in the Taiga.  Gathering the misfits of Beqanna, one at a time, he patrolled the radial area of their compound.  Seeking entertainment mostly, his heavy feathered limbs brushed through the deadened needles.  The crackling beneath his hooves hindered his stealth but there wasn't much he could do about it.  Ebony ears swiveled atop his high head carriage to capture the slightest of sounds. Every so often they flicked to one side as a grin curled his lips, soon followed by a grimace at what he finds to be nothing but forest varmints.  Fiery orbs roll in disappointment and then continue to prowl for something more...

Long dreads of blackened mane sashayed along his sienna mottled pelt as his profile turned to seek movement.  His heavied frame slowing to a stand still when he spots a vivid palette tucked amongst the drab hues of the woodlands. Thoughts swiftly go to the flora of his island upbringing.  Discontent deepens the lines of his face at the reflection of memories filling his mind.  A thick rumble expels from his nares before he draws himself nearer for a closer look.  He had yet to see as much as a blossom in the thick forests and surely if he had they would be desiccated without thinking twice...

With each lengthy stride he advances towards the blush hues.  Eyes alit with the hunger to consume the invader with his poison.  It is when he notices the nuisance is entangled in the darkened tresses of a spotted flicka.  With a slight upward jolt of his crown, he halts quickly.  Black curtains of forelock drape across his ivory masked face, blocking his view slightly.  Ears rotate to seek any signs of others lurking, as his red eyes settle on the girl.  Besides the weeds weaved along her body, she was quite the sight.  All nestled into a nook among the giant redwoods, she remained oblivious to his gaze.  For a moment he grows uneasy for starring and thinks about simply leaving her to dream, but he is curious now and assumes the duties of leader of his crew.  Settling for a loud rattle within his chest, he attempts to arouse the young lady. Following with a deep clearing of his throat...

Eyelids flutter gently, before lifting open to seek out the sound which roused her. The floral lass does not need to loo far to lay eyes on her spy. He is larger than her by far, a tapestry of mahogany and alabaster crowned in ebony. The young stag melds with the muted forest, clearly at home beneath the towering canopy. A dainty yawn is had before her limbs find themselves beneath her spangled bodice, lifting her to stand before the voyeur.

She appraised the stout fellow from beneath the  satin curtain of her inky mane. It had been a cough which had called her from slumber. It was a relatively polite method, all told. Still, she had been having such a lovely sleep... "I do hope your reason for waking me is a good one, sir. I would have risen soon enough if you'd been patient. Who are you, anyhow?" Her tone was chiding without any bite. More, she wished to gauge his reaction. A toss of her finely shaped head emphasized her haughty demeanor. Yggsrasil was the Tree of Life. It was a high hat name that she intended to live up to. Life and all its vigors and joys were going to be hers to enjoy. She may as well start here.

Fiery gaze watches as the sleeping beauty stirs quietly.  Eye lids fluttering open to reveal deep pools that fixate on him now.  His thick ebony tassels flicker against his hocks as she daintly rises.  The vines of amethyst hang from her elegant neck as she approaches.

Her words catch him off gaurd though.  Not expecting such calloused thoughts from a sweet looking thing.  It causes shock to awaken him from his trans, shaking his head lightly.

His body straightens and leans forward, puffing his chest with a huff of air before speaking in a course voice, "I was simply wondering if perhaps you were lost..." She looked misplaced here amongst the misty shadows, so logically, she could be lost.  "My name is Zain and I live here," he answers, though suddenly he wonders why he is wasting his breath.  Hormones.

His gaze suddenly hardens as he attempts to collect himself, "Who are you and why are you here in my forests?!" He demands answers of her.  Maybe the Xenos should teach this trespasser a lesson...

Yggi looked about at her surroundings at his comment, noting the mistiness of the morning and the towering skeletons of trees. There was a certain spooky quality to it, unlike the forest she'd been born in. Her exhaustion the night before had done much to disguise that. "I'm not lost, I'm just not sure where this is, is all..." The girl sniffed, avoiding eye contact. 'Lost' was not a happy concept, especially when one was not certain of the character of the one who found you. What was she supposed to do, though? He could very well be able to help her if she was careful. His reaction to her greeting was somewhat shocked and a little bit confused. She felt a rush of relief at having avoided an openly hostile encounter, particularly with a male who surpassed her stature so significantly.

The spotted lass dropped her head a bit, smiling shyly. "A pleasure to meet you, Zain. I'm sure this is a lovely place to abide. My name is Yggdrasil, and... I guess I am a bit lost, now that you mention it. Can you help me find my way?" She at last admitted, if a bit ruefully. She looked up at the bay splashed colt through long black lashes, the vivid emerald of her eyes glistening in the weak light of the forest floor. He was acting the defender, protecting his territory as he saw it, which was a respectable course of action. The dark tresses that waterfalled down her neck and pooled over her shoulders were shaken out and rearranged, shedding a flurry of pale pink petals. The action also served to strengthen the cloud of wisteria scent about her body.

She bit her lip worriedly, looking around once more. She could wander these wood for an age without finding her way out. Better to befriend the wolf than to become his dinner.

The bulk of his body shifts in place as he awaits her explanation.  The thick scent of flora was beginning to churn his stomach and he tried his best to not let temptation wilt away her decor.  But what fun that would be.  Still he is uncertain if this intruder happened to behold greater magic than him, and so he bides his time.  Ebony ears swivel forwards as she speaks of not being lost, but the shift in her eyes tells him she is hiding the truth.  A large sweep of his black locks at his hindquarters begins to show his impatience.

As if she sensed his irritation, her demeanor switch and a wispy smile painted upon her lips.  The fire burning within his red optics cooled slightly as he listened to her sweet voice.  Putting her name to memory with another flick of his ears.  Lowering his heavied head slightly, he rattles a light snort from his nostrils as he thinks upon her question.  It wasn't safe for her to be here alone, not with the crew of miscreants lurking about the shadows.  With him as her guide, she shouldn't run into any issues.

"Where are you headed?  These woods are not safe and neither are those..." His red eyes flick towards the borders of Sylva.  There was only one way west, and that was through the autumnal forests. Unless of course you knew the passage through the hills.  He wasn't about to send her to her death by crossing Sylva alone, if west was her intended destination.  He may be a rebel, but he wasn't satan...

@[Yggdrasil] figured if she wanted to get to Loess, he could escort her.  You had said something about Arthas
