    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

WATCH THE FLAMES CLIMB HIGH INTO THE NIGHT

As the answer hangs upon the tongues of the Desert’s Queens, Wrynn slips into the meeting, brushing her nose to each individual. Scorch stiffens at her daughter’s touch, though the movement is imperceptible; a simple tensing of her muscles. Her eyes do not stray from their position, do not break the gaze between herself, Pevensie and Camrynn. She represents the Amazons. She will show a united front, whether her magic-borne daughter and the girl’s bringer stood near her or not.

Camrynn offers her answer, lifting weights from Scorch’s broad shoulders. An alliance they shall have, it would seem, though sisterhood does not suit the acrid Deserts kingdom. So be it – Scorch is not perturbed. You see, when you ask for more than you want, you generally receive exactly what you were looking for in the first place. It’s a shame that Rhy may not have understood this technique of Scorch’s, but now is definitely not the time to explain. A pleased upturning of her lips is the only show of emotion as the Khaleesi dips her head, accepting the answer which they have brought.

Rhy nods in turn, giving her approval of the situation. Scorch meets her gaze momentarily, eyes flashing to a light blue. The pleasure she feels gleams in their pupilless depths, though considering that Camrynn is being respectful, she should not pick up on said pleasure. Pride may be a sin, but Scorch is Persephone herself.

While Rhy’s mind turns to the Chamber and the Gates, Scorch’s turns to the Tundra and the Dale. With this alliance set in stone, with multiple witnesses to its fabrication, she must now move on to other causes. She must meet with her brother, must secure their alliance. And the Dale – well, the neutral kingdom has yet to come into play. Until Tiphon comes to fetch the children, all shall be quiet between their kingdoms.

“Very much, thank you.” The flames adorning her bare skin flare suddenly, as though agreeing with their host’s words. Allowing a grin to reveal her shark teeth, Scorch steps aside, opening the way to her kingdom. “If you’ve any wish to converse with the sisters, you are welcome within our borders... But just before you decide whether to stay or go, may I ask this: which other kingdoms have the Deserts decided to ally with? Since we have now agreed to be completely honest and all.”

    Ah, Scorch. You scoundrel.

so you wanna play with magic?
Camrynn is entirely at her ease throughout the conversation. She doesn't fear the sisters, and she decidedly doesn't fear Scorch. Wrynn's existence amuses her (and Scorch's discomfort with the girl does not escape her). And respectful though she may be, she can't help but pick up on certain things, like Scorch's pleasure at their continued alliance, or Rhy's confusion. But she is a stone-faced diplomat here, a mask of respect and politeness etched across her pretty face.

She nods at Scorch's acceptance. It made no difference to her whether the Amazons were pleased or not; the vote was what it was, and she wouldn't have cared what verdict she was delivering. She listens with polite attention as Scorch asks about their other alliances. She knows full well what the other mare is planning, what alliances she is selecting to pursue, or to scorn. She knows that the Valley is increasingly in their crosshairs (ah, the stealing) and she isn't at all surprised.

But they are not allied with the Valley, and so she isn't required to disclose the nature of her special relationship. Honesty and all that – she answers fully what is asked, but no more beyond that.

"We are going to offer alliance to the Falls." she speaks truthfully, knowing that Pevensie has already decided it. It sits poorly with her; the Falls is a quiet kingdom with little advantage for them. If Pevensie had asked, Camrynn would have said no. But she keeps any hints of that discrepancy from her face, the impassive diplomatic mask thoroughly entrenched. "But those talks are in an early stage, they may not have an interest in that."

She pauses before speaking again. "That's the only one we have, and we haven’t discussed adding any others." she pauses for a moment. "However, we are hosting a practice that is open to all kingdoms. Well really, it's three events in one. A practice for horses with magical skill to hone it, a practice for those who wish to fight more traditionally to watch experienced fighters and critique, and an opportunity for diplomats to test their talents in a scenario situation. A little different from the average trainings – or at least, that's the goal."

"Of course, as our allies, you're at the top of the invitation list. Any of the sisters is welcome. For this exercise, and at any other time." She pauses then. "And what about the jungle? What are your alliances?" She asks, knowing full well what the answer is likely to be.

Scorch says that this thread is dead and that Sid is an asswipe and is too lazy to write a whole reply because everyone seems to be done and well, so is she.

Scorch also says: Okay cool, ally with whoever you like. Secondly, we would love to be involved, I'll mention it to the kingdom, expect hoards of women on your border when the day comes. Thirdly, we are allied with the Deserts, and are looking most prominently towards the Tundra, and perhaps the Dale or Falls too.
