    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The light that shines so bright - Andras

The light that shines so bright.

Well of course did it hurt her too. It pained her to see him back away like that, while he was clearly hurt by her attitude and actions. She had been relieved too, like some of her tension flowed away and she was able to breathe again. Gyps had been shocked and surprised to see Andras again, in the Cobblestone Creek of all places. It surely couldn’t be a coincidence that she would meet her childhood friend at the herd of the stallion she was promised to? It was like being married off to a rich bastard that already had a dozen other wives. And of course would that rich man want her in the best state, unharmed and untainted. That was where Andras came in.

Now Gyps knew that it had been a bit over the top. He had only been a friend to her and in her anger and panic she had treated him like shit. It hadn’t been fair, especially since he had wanted to help her. He had offered to help her and she had turned it down. And that hadn’t been in the most subtitle or kind way. She certainly had ruined her only chance of happiness here. There still was a chance that the horned stallion had known about it, but it was still more likely that he didn’t.

She wants to see him, hoping he would once again offer to help her, that he would stay. But she cannot leave this godforsaken place, even though she so desperately wants. Gyps just wants to go back home, back to her parents, or.. maybe not. It had been her parents that had given her away, that had stripped her of her freedom. Why did she have to live the bound life her mother refused to? Hooves stamp on the ground as she loudly groans, thrashing her head around before she comes to a halt. Head dropped towards the ground and wings ruffling. Why was life so ridiculously unfair?

    Andras

It has been a few weeks since he has been in the home of the herd, he has been avoiding it at all costs. Mainly because he last saw Gyps there and she wanted nothing to do with Andras, and the fact that his father was there and Andras wasn't ready to see his father. He had so many unanswered questions, why did his father do this? How did Andras go his whole life without knowing this, and why did fate put them together as foals.

He gave a snort as he stepped over the lands border, he looked about questioningly and his heart began to race, why did he feel this way? These feelings were all new to Andras, he was unsure of how to behave and why he had these feelings. Francois never spoke of these feelings, he was so good at hiding his emotions but Andras couldn't he could not stand the way his conversation ended with Gyps. He hoped to run into the ebony mare, but at the same time he would be okay with not running into her.

He scanned around as he was able to pick up the scent of Gyps, his anxiety kicked in and his heart fluttered, god why did he feel this way. He wanted to see her but he feared her anger so much, he did not want to upset her. He casually weaved in between the trees, the only relief from the summers heat. His nose did not fail him, the black and blue mare was in fact around he stood and contemplated running the other way but he was like an annoying mosquito that would not stop. Gyps he spoke gently as he approached the mare, she looked much calmer today but still as stressed as the last time they met.

She felt like a small child that was throwing a fit about nothing. Well, in her case it wasn’t nothing, but either way she felt horrible. Not only had her pride been broken, she also felt very little because she got thrown away by her parents like she was nothing more than dirt. On top of that she also had discovered that her only childhood friend – she had never really bonded with her siblings – belonged to herd of the stallion she had gotten sold too. Others might see it as an exchange, but that wasn’t something Gyps could accept. After all, she had been the price of her mother’s freedom. That Archam had given his own daughter to her father in return didn’t change anything about that.

Oh, how she hated both of them. Archam had yet to see the better side of her – nobody in Cobblestone Creek had seen it since she had arrived – and the winged black and blue mare simply refused to just settle in like an easy little mare. She wasn’t and she would never be. The thing she had been wrong about was Andras, and his connection to this whole thing. Yes, it still was possible for him to be involved in this conflict, but right now Gyps wanted to believe so desperately that he wasn’t. She needed him. And she would rather believe a lie than know the truth.

When he finds her she’s still scared and upset, genuinely afraid of what Archam would do with her. She didn’t want his child, but she had been delivered to him on a golden plate. He could do whatever he wanted. Gyps didn’t know what kind of stallion he was, but she could only hope that Andras took after his father, which would mean that Archam wouldn’t be too unkind. ”Andras.” Her voice was barely more than a whisper, voice out her surprise. She hadn’t expected him to come back, not this soon at least. But seeing him now only makes Gyps realise how lonely she had been.

She wants nothing more than to move closer towards him, to press her muzzle against his skin and hide at his side. She does not, instead she just stands there, awkwardly. Hesitant the blue haired mare takes a few steps forward, neck already stretched and nose extended in his direction, but there still is a big gap between them. Would he be angry with her for her previous behaviour? Would he cast her away, like she had told him to get lost? Swallowing the dry lump in his throat she parts her lips to speak, but nothing comes out. When she closes her mouth again, the tears are about to spill from her eyes. Gyps hates how she feels right now. How weak she looks, but seeing Andras pulls all those emotions out of her and there is nothing she can do to stop it.

    Andras

The roan appaloosa gazed at the mare who was deep in her own thoughts. She has had so many changes in her life, he wasn't sure when she found out about coming to his fathers herd but it wasn't that long ago, surely she would have said something earlier. His heart was throbbing in his throat as he waited for her to see him, would she be kind or quick to get defensive? If she were to become angry with Andras again he would never show face in the herd again, in fact he probably would have to leave the Falls. He wouldn't be able to live knowing his father was having his way with Gyps, while he was just a few miles away.

Alas, she spoke his name, it was gentle and kind like the Gyps he knew. What was this feeling he got around her? They were both so young, could it be love? Realistically they were great friends but he has had plenty of friends and none made him feel this way. He wanted to argue with the conscious in his head but when he gazed at Gyps she was clearly upset, her eyes looked like they were about to rain tears. There was a large gap between them but Gyps' neck was stretched out, as if she was welcoming him to touch her.

God, she really knew how to pull his emotions. He moved forward quickly rubbing against her, he turned to wrap his head around hers. In that moment his anxiety relaxed and his heart was at peace, he was just happy that they were at peace again. Everything seemed to fall perfectly in place, although they still had the large road block that she technically belonged to Archam. But he did not want to bring it up, he just wanted to enjoy the moment with her, they could plot her escape any other time.

If she had known of the arrangement between their parents – even if she wouldn’t have known yet that Archam was Andras’ father – she surely would’ve sought Andras out to rant to him. After all, he was sort of the only friend she had. Gyps knew he was a Falls’ warrior and that was exactly where she would’ve gone to look for him. But she hadn’t known it long enough to search for him. Her father had dropped the bomb and only a few days later she was already traded for Archam’s own daughter. And at the her she had met Andras almost right away. Well, that didn’t go too well and had eventually led to where they were now.¬

Hesitantly and clearly surprised she moves backwards when he starts to close the gap between them. Only a few though and she allows him to get closer. Before she knows what’s happening he is all over her. Literally all around her. Within no time Andras scent mingled with hers and with his touching it rubbed all over her, almost like he was marking her with his scent. Not that the blue haired girl minded. Tears spilled from her eyes as she pressed herself closer against him, soothing her pained soul with his gently touches.

”Andras.” This time her voice is louder, less surprised and clearly relieved. She had been soo afraid that he would cast her away, that he would hate her for what she had done, but no, he’s here at her side. Supporting and soothing her. ”I’m sorry..” she mumbles, this time speaking softer again as she’s ashamed of her prior behaviour. At least she could be honest with Andras. Reaching out she brushes her muzzle across his cheek, before rubbing her face to the side of his neck, tears occasionally rolling down her cheeks. Gyps keeps her wings folded against her side, tightly, as she gives in to the horned stallion completely.

    She accepted him...

He wanted to just stop time and stand still intertwined with her, he breathed in her scent that was like a freshly bloomed flower. The tips of her wings that tickled his shoulder were as soft as what he imagined clouds to feel like. He felt her tears flow from her eyes and he only pressed in harder, she apologizes and in that moment she did not need to say anything, he already knew. She brushed against him, it was like she completely trusted him, with no doubt in her mind.

But of course, he couldn't stop time and they couldn't stand like that forever. He stepped back to gaze at the mare for a moment, her eyes still flowed a few tears and he extended his neck. Pressing his muzzle below her eyes(as if to catch the tears) a small smile grew on his face as he looked at her I promise you that no harm will come to you whether it be a forced child, or emotional abuse from his father. His father was around the herd perhaps less than Andras was, he wasn't even sure why he still accepted the trade for Gyps.

His body was flooded with emotions and he wasn't really sure how to process them all. For now he would keep them to himself, aside from the obvious of course. Perhaps she just liked him as a friend? Trusted him as a friend, and not as anything else. He shook his body hoping she didn't notice that he was caught up in his own thoughts and smiled once again. I've missed you is that weird to say? She was his only friend after all, but than again they only hung out a few times as children.

The moment he steps back a protesting sounds escapes her lips. She doesn’t want him to move away, she wants him close, hiding at his side. So she steps forward, neck outstretched and muzzle reaching towards him. Gyps looks at him for a second, before she casts her teary eyes down, ashamed. She tilts her head, causing her navy blue forelock to fall sideward, but it’s still too short to hide her face from his gaze. She doesn’t look at Andras, well, not until his muzzle gently trails across her cheek to brush away the tears.

Its then that she turns her head to look at him again, eyes still watery, but the tears have stopped – for now at least. Slowly a smile starts to spread upon her lips, tugging at the corners and Gyps simply cannot stop it. The tension starts to flow from her body, but she cannot stand to be too far away from him. She has been alone too long already. ”Andras.. I.. Thank you..” She really didn’t know what else to say. So instead she reaches out to him, her lips gently brushing his cheek before she pulls back again.

She doesn’t know what it is that drives her, that tingles in her stomach, but she brushes it off. Probably it was nothing more than the joy to have their friendship mend again. Gyps giggles softly, looking at the horned stallion surprised. The smile is back and youth once again clearly visible in her whole appearance. ”I missed you too. Thank you for coming back..” She pauses, biting down on her lower lip as she glances up to meet Andras’ gaze. ”You’ll stay, right?” The question lingers in the air, her insecurity clearly noticeable.

It is when he pulled away and she moved closer that he realized she shared similar feelings. His heart was about to beat out of his chest, it was crazy that just a short few weeks ago she did not want him near her. But now they couldn't get any closer. Her tears continued to fall down her face, until he attempted to stop them.

Her mouth opens and she speaks, a thank you, but for what? Not losing the feelings he had? Staying strong for both of them? She brushed her lips against his cheek and his eyes closed with trust, a tingle shot through his body as she showed affection for him. He hoped that she could simply tell his feelings for her, he did not want to bombard her with his emotions after all she has her own to deal with.

She responded with an 'I missed you' and his eyes shot open, a smile parting his lips with a grin he could not deny. It was nice to hear the words flow from her own mouth, 'thank you for coming back' she mutters. He cocked his eye I would never leave you truthfully speaking. Once he found out about her being apart of the herd he couldn't stop thinking about her, about her safety.

She could barely hold eye contact but finally she looks at him asking if he would stay and he gave a nod towards her I'll stay as long as you want me to" he moved closer, closing the gap between them. He nuzzled her shoulder, he felt in-sync with her, like destiny brought the two together regardless of how they got to the spot they are today.

A thank you for coming back, for staying, for not giving up on her. He could’ve easy decided to unfriend her after last time. She couldn’t blame him for doing that either, she had been the one who had casted him away. It had been the fear and anger that had driven her, pushed her till a point at which her emotions went over the top. Gyps hadn’t been in her right mind and she truly regretted the things she had said, but she couldn’t turn back time.

But for him to not reject her, even accepting her, a lot of weight is relieved from her shoulders. She allows him to sooth her, to calm her down, although the shimmer of tears in her eyes stays. Her heart beats loudly in her chest and her stomach flutters, and that was all just because of Andras. Just before he replies their gazes met. Gyps wants to look down, to avoid his gaze, but she cannot do so. His words capture her, make her heart skip a beat, and all she can do is stare at him. ”Andras.” She mutters his name, again and again and again, it’s still so surreal that he’s here with him. She needs to be sure, it couldn’t be a dream, that would surely be the end of her.

”Then stay.” Gyps didn’t want him to leave. Not now, not ever. She needed him at her side. And she could only hope that Andras could accept her as well. She could not yet read his heart, but he at least cared about her in some way, otherwise he wouldn’t be here. Her muzzle brushes his shoulder again, pressing closer now he had taken in the initiative by closing some of the distance. ”Please.. Please get me out of here..” She didn’t intent to sound so lost, so little, but she cannot help it. Because that’s exactly how she feels right now.

The ebony mare had so many emotions running through her body, she didn't have to say anything, he knew. He had his own share of emotions running through his body, but most of all he was thankful. Thankful to have her back in his life, that she was happy to see him. That she trusted he was not part of some plot to get her into the herd lands.

She spoke his name and it caused a tingle to shock his body, her voice was so soft and gentle. He moved his head to play with the whiskers on her muzzle, moving closer kissing her muzzle. She said to stay but quickly changed it to Get me out of here a small smile grew on his face as the words escaped her maw.

Gyps He spoke gently Come to the Falls with me! The kingdom is beautiful! He smiled looking behind him, a short tread and they would be at the kingdom. I am a warrior there, I can protect you! We can have our own life in the Falls, my father isn't even around anymore, he won't even notice. Truly he wouldn't, Andras' dad was nearly non existent. Andras hasn't seen the stallion in over a year and a half, the herd lands were just as empty and Andras would protect her with his life.
