    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

(It appears my last role play was abandoned by the other person I was roleplaying with, so I have come here to start over.)

Why did foals have to be so curious?

It wasn't that Raxa had anything against the young horses; it's just that she preferred it when they weren't around, to bug her at least. The calm ones, she could deal with no problem. The ones that were excited and pranced around and anything else, she just didn't wish to be around them.

They reminded her of what she never had.

Foaling season had started just a few days ago, and in all honesty, Raxa was grateful for the break. This time of the year, mares were left alone by the stallions, at least until all the foals dropped. Breeding season was a while away, and Raxa would use that break time to enjoy the peace and quiet before she'd have to show the stallions her teeth again.

She'd only been in this place a short while, and it was already past breeding season when she had; quite a few mares were heavy with foals. However, the stallions had come after her, whether to force her to join harems or chase her away because they thought she was an oddball. In all honesty, Raxa was surprised that the reason she'd had to run from the stallions was when they were trying to get hold of her; she thought they'd chase her off more often.

But, well, she was three, and supposed the stallions just needed young mares. Not her problem though; not one stallion had interested her yet, especially a pompous arrogant one that she'd shown her teeth after he'd done the same. The bite mark was still on her neck, but it had been healing. If it left a scar, it would be a minor one. She had others like it, all from times she'd been chased off or got into a fight over food.

And fights like that were what taught Raxa to defend herself. She was always on alert for trouble, but today, during foaling season, spring seemed to have blessed the land. It was quiet, peaceful, the cliques of mares grazing here and there throughout the field. A couple stallions lingered as well, probably deciding which mares they wanted to go after next, so that was nothing new.

Raxa, enjoying the peace and quiet that day, decided to make herself scarce after a few mares in a nearby clique started dropping. She made her way over to the waterfall and small lake beneath it, always enjoying being around this wonderful piece of the land. It was such a beautiful sight; when the sunlight hit it just right, it seemed that the waterfall was forming a rainbow as it struck the lake water.

A small smile appearing on her face as she looked around to make sure no trouble was nearby, Raxa lowered her finely sculpted head, dipping her muzzle into the water and taking a nice, long drink, as she pondered what she might do the rest of the day.

Well you certainly don't have to tell this big bastard twice! Green eyes rest on the brindle form, hungry. As of late, the striped male has decided to settle back into Beqanna and start a little herd. He was never much into the kingdom scene for sharing was not a strong point of his. He liked the feeling of control but he not a cruel dictator. He loves conversing with his mares, picking their brains and tasting their bodies. In fact, Mari is one swell guy deep down.

Limbs pull the stag closer so his shadow is already licking her skin, a small smirk curling at the edges of the gray whiskered maw. Emerald pools are dancing but his handsome features are coy like that of a boy-child with a secret. "Well hello there." Tenor croons from between the parted lips. He is so bold as to move close to her head, the heat of his breath tickling the fine hairs for only a moment as a large green tinted wing lifts to brush again her unusual hide.

But he is quick! Agility has come with age to avoid flying hooves or gnashing teeth. A small chuckle is the only thing to follow the three words he had produced. Eyes follow her, noting the curves and dips of her body, lusting. Before the mare has the ability to make any rash or ignorant decision, he gives her pretty little hip a nibble. "Mine." The word is thicker, heavier as it is breathed against her skin. Green pools rotating in their sockets as he does not draw back yet, making sure they their eyes connect first, as a playful smile crawls across his lips.

I can still hear you saying -
you would never break the chain

Men. They are their own downfall. Give women a space to be unified, to be undisturbed by their gender-opposite counterparts, and they thrive in a fierce fashion. Just look at the Jungle mares - a force to be reckoned with. That’s when (as her eyes dart across the field and find those green wings precariously close) she feels a rather disappointed frown tug at the edge of her usually attractive lips. Just another day, just another annoyance. “A little eager, aren’t we?” Dacia chimes, coming upon the pair of them with steely blue eyes and draped in satin black from head to hoof. Her head turns, she looks the newcomer over, finds her satisfactory, and snaps her attention back to the stallion.

“Where has chivalry gone?” She mutters, shaking her nose gently from side to side. Oh the shame. She’s attractive, in a classic fashion. Rounded curves and lines that connect in just the right way. Her head is finer, narrowing down to a pensive, delicate nose. Dacia is a sight for sore eyes. But this mare beside her is also well endowed - a slightly stronger presence, perhaps suited for more demanding work, yet still agreeable. The black chamberling smiles. “You have options, dear.” She comments, easing forward so that she might intercept the two.

“I call a kingdom home.” She states, a single hind leg relaxing as she begins her conversation. “It’s nice to have the freedom to decide what to do with your own life,” She laughs airily, gaze flickering sideways to peer at the strange stallion, “Rather than letting someone else decide for you.” She finishes, a hint of irritation lining her words. But she’s through with him, and just like that she’s focused on the young mare again, a sideways grin brightening her rather dark features. “I’m Dacia.”

Raxa's senses, like all horses, are finely tuned; they have to be. She is a prey animal after all, and needs to be able to sense approaching danger so that she can either run away, or prepare herself to fight.

This, though, she had not been expecting. Raxa's tapered head went up as she heard a voice right behind her, the mare turning around rapidly. The stallion sported a strange coat, black and white striped; it strangely reminded Raxa of an animal her mother had once told her about, long ago, but she could not remember. His green eyes were searching, hungry, as they moved across her body, and Raxa immediately found that distasteful. How dare he look at her like that! She had no doubt this stallion was much like the other she'd chased off with hoof and teeth.

He moved closer to her head, and Raxa prepared herself to lash out with her teeth, not wanting him any closer. Before she could though, she felt something brush against her hide, her blue eyes catching the movement of what appeared to be a wing, connected to the stallion's body no less.

Raxa took a step back; just what kind of horse was this stallion?! No normal horse sported wings like a bird. The coat pattern was questionable too, but then Raxa thought of her own, and supposed it wasn't that big of an abnormality. She'd be a hypocrite in that fashion.

Remembering her anger, and seeing the stallion come closer again, Raxa turned, striking out with her powerful hind legs. The hooves met nothing but air, as the stallion had moved out of the way faster than she'd expected. Raxa continued her assault, but each strike, whether it be hind hoof, front hoof, or her teeth, missed. Eventually, she felt herself getting tired, and that was not a good sign.

If the only option left was to run, she didn't want to burn out her reserves. She forced herself to stop lashing out for now, deciding she'd run if the opportunity arose.

Neighing angrily as the stallion nipped her hip, and stated one word that made her furious, Raxa prepared herself to turn and run. However, the stallion's eyes met hers, and Raxa found herself getting even angrier. Despite her body telling her to run, she stared the stallion down, her own blue eyes seething with rage.

Then, she heard another voice, and glanced to the side. A black mare was approaching, her own blue eyes glaring at the stallion before turning to look at Raxa. The brindled mare got an odd feeling from this one. Oh great, that's just what she needed.

Raxa only pretended to listen to the mare who spoke of some place called a kingdom, but didn't really follow. What kind of place was this? Never would Raxa have imagined what it was like here. She'd originally thought it was another land full of normal horses like herself, but here she was, surrounded by a winged stallion and a blue-eyed black mare that gave off an odd vibe.

Raxa did not like it one bit.

Ignoring the slight sting in her hip from where the stallion bit her, Raxa reared up on her hind legs, striking out at the duo with her front hooves. She wasn't aiming to hit really, just try to get them to back off and give her some time. Her sculpted body was elegantly framed by the midday sunlight as she lashed out, a defiant look in her eyes.

After a few strikes, she turned mid-rear, landing squarely on her hooves, and took off for the grass-covered field behind her, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she'd be able to outrun these two strangers.
