    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Coldness and darkness were all she could experience. One she was familiar with, the other was foreign. She didn't remember much. Vague images of a warm and kind presence, one that had told her to wait here where it was safe before running off. The filly was barely hours old, and she was starving. Her mother had had a chance to feed her before running off, but the young child hadn't eaten in hours. Something must've happened to her. The young girl should go help, but she was still unused to her shaking legs.

As the sky began to brighten with the morning sun, the filly decided she should try and go after her mother. Certainly she had run off to protect her from some vile thing. That had to be the only explanation. Black legs stretched out in front of her, stiff from cold and having little practice. The foal readied herself and pushed up with her front legs, only to topple over onto her face. Well that hadn't worked. Perhaps if she took it from another angle? The filly propped up her back legs first this time, sticking her curly tail up into the air. Then, she hoisted upward, pushing her front legs out in front of her. There, that had done it. She wasn't as wobbly as she remembered being the first time, but she certainly wasn't very confident on her feet yet.

The girl took a few wobbly steps around the small glade, trying to bring life into her heavy legs. Once she felt a bit more comfortable, she looked around, for the mother that she remembered. A flash of silver disappearing into the night. The sun was coming up now and brightening the world around her. The intake of light caused the young girl to sneeze, sending her backward and landing on her bottom. That had hurt! And that warm presence of a mother was no where near to soothe her. The dark filly sniffed as her eyes filled with sadness. She felt so alone.

The little mare didn't know hwta lead her to the Adoption Den but something seemed to call her there begging her attention. She walked her head held high and her ears pricked forward her hazel eyes scanning the place for what or whom ever drew her here. The wind blew through her long black mane making her log forelock to go into her eyes, she flicked her head and sighed. Where could that connection be?

She walked around a little long before she spotted a little filly struggling to get up, she was so young why did her mother leave her here? Hoku shook her head and sighed some mothers should be beat on the head for how stupid they are, leaving newborns to fend for themselves, selfish on the mother's part. The mare walked over to the filly who now was sitting on her rear sniffling and looking down right pathetic, who wouldn't be when their mother abandoned them. "Whats the matter child? Are you left here alone? Poor child" Hoku said walking slowly over to the filly sitting on the ground. She got closer and she laid down to get to the fillies height her hazel eye meeting the little dark fillies eyes and she smiled softly "It's alright I wont hurt you" She said flicking her long black tail.
