Eurwen
the secret of walking on water
is knowing where the rocks lie
is knowing where the rocks lie
There's something more to Eyas than meets the eye; that is something she already knew, something she had seen right from the start. Most horses that look as skinny as she would not be on the move, for one - those that aren't strong, cower away to die in a corner of the world, never to be found. Not Eyas. Eyas walked to the river, the largest water source in the area, and only had needed a little prodding to drink, to do what was needed to sustain herself and to survive. It was a similar kind of push that Eurwen had been given from Oriash, but much less forceful; no force had been needed with Eyas.
The silence that follows gives Eurwen pause, however. She doesn't need to hear the question out loud to know it is there. Why not? Perhaps, she thinks, she could grow to be - but she'd never actually see herself as the hero. She knows what those look like who do - they let titles and power go to their heads. Act in their own interest in the name of acting in the interest of others.
The matter, in fact, is that she hadn't wanted the responsibility, a tiny voice in the back of her head reminds her. Why not? is the question that will stay with her longer than the day. Perhaps one day it will surface again, and she will answer.
Today is not that day, but when her more direct question gets an answer, she can practically feel her brows float above her head. A daughter of Wolfbane and Lepis, well well... it explains the topic at hand, the questions that she had been asking, the feelers she put out. Eurwen is not exactly sure why Eyas then, would be one to want Eurwen to start living up to her core, to be the beaver in her story; but she also marks her opinion about the invasion of Taiga - and her question to not hold it against her.
"That explains this conversation," she softly responds, musing softly over the latter. "I do have to wonder why you went through all this trouble, and not just come home?" Lepis has long since returned to Loess - Wolfbane was everywhere and nowhere to be found. "I think you could do a lot of good for Taiga, regardless of who leads it."
Wasn't that, all in all, what she did for Nerine? Continuing the work regardless of what happened, regardless of who leads it, regardless who keeps on stealing dangerous predators?
