    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

What made this a Resort anyway? Was it better than Ischia and if so, how?

Well, those questions weren’t going to answer themselves probably. It was said that most of his nieces and nephews, cousins (first, second removed, whatever), and perhaps even a full sibling, resided here. Yet, none of them had visited the Isle he lead, or even - which was stranger - Nerine. Heartfire ruled it now, after all.He could get over the fact that perhaps they didn’t like him (not that he particularly fancied that idea, but he knew his personality to be found… hard to be around, at times, by some). But Heartfire had always tried her best to keep her family close. So, to him, it was weird that nobody ever visited.

Well, yes it was cold - but Nerine was doable in summer even to people used to this (way too) hot climate. Yuck. He could not stand it much longer than a single visit; exception for the time when it had been winter and there had been lots of snow and ice.

Anyway, what’s done is done, and since he was already visiting Tephra, the Resort couldn’t be much worse. Besides, it smelled like the Jungle, if one forgot about the salt (but the same thing could be said about Ischia back in the day). Now, he stood at the beach, chest heaving with the effort to swim. The water quickly ran off his body, sure, but perhaps… he was finally getting sick as well.

But he couldn’t be stopped by the sickness now. A leader had to make such sacrifices, even one of a previously safe land. Especially one without too many subjects; needing to travel back and forth to the common lands perhaps more often than others.

That made him wonder if all former safe lands had acted as a form of sanctuary; and what they would do now that the fairies had taken it all back?

The air is still rather damp from the previous visit of rain, a greeting that was well received in the hot climates of the resort, especially when everything began getting dry, even the air failing to capture a drop of water. Only the breeze brings in a swell of humid air from the sea, a salty breeze carrying vapour along the coast and into the mainland, acting as a coolant.
The ivory male is almost a natural repellent to the sun, his white skin suited well to the sun rays high above, only his pink-tipped nose burning in especially high temperatures.
The male’s companion now spends his days sitting below the shade of the jungle canopy, his thick arctic coat a curse to him in the warm air.

The newly appointed leader now begins to exit the jungle, to walk out his territory and see if anything new popped up.
It was still rather lonely on the resort and the male was focused on changing just that.
His white companions joins his side, trotting below him as he weaves through Ruinam’s legs, panting in the heat as he tries to keep up.

Among the mixed breeze of damp flora and salt lies the scent of a horse, one he had never smelled before.
Ruinam is quick to advance toward the strange horse, his legs rushing along the coast of the resort, the colder water cooling his legs, cleaning them of the sand that decorated his legs.
Ruinam halts as the strangely horse comes into view, the ivory Male takes a moment to study the horse, a very interesting arrival greeting his eyes as his companion rushes toward him “Calmly now” he speaks softly toward the fox who now runs toward the stranger.

Ruinam takes a moment before walking toward the male, his dry lips parting to speak “Hello there, I am Ruinam. What brings you to the resort?” He asks with a smile, his small companion already circling the male in curiosity.

Isn’t that a sight - poor animal. He cannot help but think it as soon as he spies the small, white, out-of-place arctic fox. His own best friend shifts into that form every now or then, and Leilan remembers Jesper telling him how the thick, warm fur has kept him alive and repelled the icy waters surrounding the Isle more than once. What it would do in this tropical place... Leilan himself probably could not stand it long enough, and isn’t planning on a long visit therefore.

As Leilan occupies himself with the fox, it doesn’t occur to him immediately that the white male in front of him who shines like a full moon in the bright sunlight, is the Resort’s new leader. It does occur however as soon as the man speaks his name, and asks him about his business. The ice-carrying, scaled stallion grins his pointy teeth at the island leader. ”I’m Leilan, of Icicle Isle. I figured a visit was long overdue - a large enough part of my family is supposed to be living here, but I see they’ve chosen the quiet life once more.” Though the Scortoni’s are usually curious by nature, neither seems willing to lead or - sadly - even come out of the sorry excuse for the Jungle.

”I feel like you two may have missed your calling.” he outs then, looking from the white male to the winter creature at his own scaled feet. ”I’m sure Jesper would absolutely adore meeting with you.” he tells the fox more than the stallion.

The new visitor appeared quite intimidating at first glance, Ruinam still wary of meeting new people and socialising, at least he hadn't mucked up his introduction, that whole ordeal would have most likely jeopardised the whole conversation.

The ivory male's trail of thought returns to the strange man as he begins to speak, seeming to take quite an interest in his companion.
The male introduces himself as Leilan, the leader of another island, a rather cold once from what he had heard.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, I'm afraid it has been rather quiet here. When I arrived there didn't seem to be many horses around" he nods as he changes his posture comfortably.
When Ruinam had arrived, the island was oddly quiet, not even a single horse roamed the warm climate before he started getting visitors.
"Perhaps you could take this little one back with you, I don't think he appreciates the warm climate too much" he offers a laugh as he looks toward his fox companion.

The icy male's attention then diverts to his companion, speaking to him as if the small critter could talk back.
The fox seems to understand anyway, looking toward Ruinam as if asking for permission to converse with another. The fox was rather loyal, most likely following Ruinam's example.
