    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

you've got to move slowly, take and eat my body like it's holy.
She’s resting for the time being, letting the day pass her by while she casually patrols the border as her father had asked her to. He warned her there might be people coming to see what Loess is up to, either to join or to thwart their attempts to save their people. The serpent girl waits patiently for her shift here to end or for someone interesting to come seeking her home. There’s a faint smile on her lips now that Vulgaris is home. Even if he doesn’t call her by her name or seem to recall just how much he loves her. Even if Leliana and Adna are still missing from their fractured family.

Her bright eyes see him approaching and she eagerly hurries to greet him before he’s even had the chance to step foot across their borders. Starsin had felt him coming, she told Sabbath, and knew that he would be quite the asset to their objectives. He would build them a nice little home for all the healers the Loessians manage to collect if she only spoke the right words. The cave maze would rise up from the lush grasses and its cool tunnels would keep them all right where she wants them.

Hello, I’m Sabbath. We’ve been expecting you!” she says, so excited a little giggle falls from her young lips. The midday sun gleams across her red and gray scales, brightening her sweet face despite the awful plans laid out across her mind. Her green eyes examine him closely as she begins to circle him. He looked strong enough for the job, she thinks as her smile remains firm across her lips.

Loess needs a nice cave to keep all our visitors for now, so they don’t wander off somewhere,” she explains with a nod of her head, the horn gesturing to the open land behind her. “Starsin says you can build one, and in exchange, our kingdom will personally owe you a debt of gratitude.

She lets the offer hang in the air. The members of Loess are strong and more than capable of crushing any enemies who might stand in Aziz’s path, she knows. The real question, however, is if he sees the opportunity laid before him.

The bay man was simply meant to explore for a while, venture out to find new lands to build on, see the many sights there was to see in Beqanna, Loess was to become one of these places, somewhere he could freely explore, of course if he was welcome to do so.
As the stallion walks he is surprised to be greeted by a mare already at the border before he could even step foot across the separating line.
He was hoping he had not entered some sort of diplomatic conundrum, why else would someone already be waiting here?

The mare immediately introduced herself as Sabbath, a rather quick introduction for him only having just arrived, it almost seemed like was expected to arrive, like she knew who Aziz was.
His doubts are quickly confirmed, he was expected to arrive in this strange land, a rather confused expression appearing on his dark face. Before he can even speak, the mare is already speaking of what Loess needs, a cave of sorts that could house, visitors?
It seemed like a rather strange request upon meeting, but the builder wasn't particularly taken aback, at first he is hesitant, his brow raised as the mare continues, speaking of her land owing him a debt of gratitude.
The offer seemed irresistibly intriguing to the once kinged male, his ears perked, situated atop his skull in a curious manner, his eyes scanning over the mare.

He thinks about it for a while, although it seemed weird and rather hard to trust, it was still not his business, after all, he had been asked quite kindly, it was his own self-desire that drove him to accept, his lips quivering in readiness to speak "Alright" his words are short, beginning to walk before the mare could even answer him, already desired in his lust for a title, even if it was not a thing he could have.

As he walks he begins to explain to the mare, his requirements are simple.
The land must provide what they need him to build, if Loess wants a cave of rock and minerals then it will have to be there before he can even do anything, if they want soil, dirt or anything the earth provided, it would have to already be there.
These requirements are stated sharply, his tone soft but willing, he could already smell the different scents lingering in the air as they both walked, the mare leading him to wherever he would have to go, unsure of whether he would meet someone or get straight to building, not something he cared about too particularly.

The air seemed different here, something was surely going on, but once again it was not his problem to deal with, the request to use his magic would be fulfilled one way, or another.

She watches his face turn to confusion and she forgets that not everyone has a mind reader picking people’s brains for them. Still, it means little when he continues to listen to her proposition anyway. Her father had told her to be lovely, to use her soft voice to gain his trust and convince him to cooperate. Sabbath watches him, grinning wide with those eager green eyes when he complies with her requests so easily. One promise, one sweet smile, and the project was underway. The serpent child makes a note to remember that men are susceptible to these kinds of things.

Sabbath nods along as he explains what he’ll need, her little horn swishing through the air with each head movement. She comes to a stop in the center of Loess and turns to face him with the clearing directly behind her. “ There are rocks in the hills and clay in the soil. Maybe some old bones buried down there we could use to decorate. Whatever you think looks best, as long as it can stand strong enough to protect the visitors inside,” she explains, her face still beaming with joy and excitement. Strong enough to keep them from escaping, she doesn’t say. Strong enough to keep anyone from breaking them out.

Is there anything I can do to help?” she asks with a tilt of her young head, her black forelock falling in her red face as she watches him. She’s eager to see just how he builds their prisons but she tries her best to be patient for the time being. Everyone she knows has the kind of magic you can’t quite see, like her mother’s healing or Starsin’s mind reading. But to see him build their dungeon? She imagines it will be great and perhaps terrifying at first.

Sabbath steps out of his way and stands beside him as she waits for the spectacle to begin. Maybe someday she can learn to create things rather than destroy them. (But she’s just starting to learn how to break things and she’s getting better every day. Perhaps her talents will always lie in the chaos and disruption her father has begun to teach her.) Her eyes drift to the little rocks along the ground, expecting them to begin shivering and trembling with her new friend’s strength.

The magic inside Aziz is already tingling, his legs longing to interlock with the earth once more, to speak with nature and borrow from its very existence once more.
As they enter the clearing into the middle of the land, Aziz turns to the mare, his lips quivering in excitement "No need, I think I can handle this"
He says with a smile, his fire for titles slowly dimming as he focused on the project at hand, a 'visitor' cave, with bones.

As usual, the stallion's hooves are eaten by the cracked earth, his eyes closing as he begins to whisper, begging the earth to lend him power, this is why he is usually stuck in silence for a while from an outside view, untouched by any soul.
The earth is silent for a moment, life continuing to move untouched as his tail begins to swish comfortably, his eyes flickering as the earth began to rumble. The earth had answered his call.
The earth below them began to shake lightly, two huge pillars combined with soil, minerals, rock and bones shot up into the air, towering above the trees, stopping for a moment, replacing the silence with calls from hundreds of birds, warning other creatures of the earth's movement. The towering statures loom over everything else, small pieces of rocks and bone falling from the sides, crumbling into dust as they fell to the floor.
The pillars then shake again, moving violently in different directions as they both separate and form a large dome, the base to his cave that would house all the 'visitors'.
Within a few moments, the rocks behind him are sucked below the earth, stolen by the earth bender, his thirst growing strong as they appear again in front of him, forming a sheet over the dome, a thunderous sound erupting from the expanse of land as the rocks change shape.
The outside was now complete, strong enough to most things that were it could face, but Aziz wasn't done yet, he had a promise to deliver.

The bay stallion trembles slightly as he moves away from his position, standing at the dome's entrance only to have his hooves sucked back into the earth, his eyes closing immediately, the peace that had returned hushed again as the earth shakes, this time it is more furious, Aziz was asking for more this time.
As his body begins to convulse, the earth in front of him collapses, folding in on itself, creating an underground layer, a small system of corridors accompanying it.
Next, the bay male makes the entrance smaller, easier to guard, harder to get through, his eyes opening as he left the cave.

He now walks back toward the mare, a smile on his face "Oh I almost forgot!" he exclaims as his head shoots back toward the cave, one of his hooves entering the ground,  a few bones escaping from the earth, accompanied by the soil that carried them, which now placed them at the entrance, decorating the homely building.
"I  hope that this is sufficient" he grins as he looks toward the mare, his eyes focused on her as she shakes himself, getting rid of the earth that remained on his pelt.
