    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    a ghost in the darkness.
Although the dark woods are now his home, he slips past the thorny twisted wall (plucked from his mind and made into reality) knowing that Deimos will keep an eye on things while he is gone. He has no choice really, the wall keeps him tied to the land. For now. The wraith can come and go as he pleases, however, which he does now. The weight of a kingdom is not as heavy as most but it seems a burden today. Still in the clean up stages, sweeping out the old while trying to install the new. It was frustrating and tiresome. As much as he wants to get to the fun stuff, he knows this is necessary to do first. Still, he needs a distraction before his temper rampages and he goes off course.

So he stalks towards the open rolling hills of the meadow. The air is still cool and pleasant, the signs of death and decay all around him. Burned leaves falling from trees to crumble to dust beneath his hooves. Withered grasses bowing and fading. Glittering red sweep over the visitors, looking for anything of significance. He needs a release, a little fun. Something to brighten the dullness and remind him of why he was doing all this in the first place.

The pickings seem slim today and there’s no tell tale signs of inner brokenness, of instability or madness. A challenge, maybe that's what he needs. Pale lips press tightly against each other, stark white curved lobes pricked forward as he searches beneath his stained fringe. His gaze, by chance, rests on a winged bay mare and the memory of the fairy (her blood on his lips as he escaped with his prize) suddenly comes back. Slowly he prowls towards her, step by step. Duck, duck… Goose.

It was autumn again. She loved the crisp, cool morning air, and how the morning fog would tickle her nostrils. Or at least she believed it was the fog. She could always see it from a distance and loved the mysteriousness of it and how it reminded her of the clouds she adored, but every time she bounced into the haze with glee, it all vanished. She sometimes could see it swirling around her as she walked through, moving effortlessly to open a patch for her but never staying to play. Once, when she was little, she forced the fog to stay still, but even then, it didn’t feel that different when she touched it or inhaled it. So, in the end, she figured that it was still there and just turned invisible. Even if it wasn’t fully true, it prevented her from bouncing through it like a lunatic.

She also knew what autumn meant, especially for those of her gender, and she wasn’t naïve enough to know that she was at risk. She wasn’t as helpless as most thanks to her strange powers, but still, she kept herself more alert than usual. Or at least tried to. Granted, it wasn’t like she was innocent enough to be utterly heartbroken either way. After all, she often found herself fascinated, perhaps even aroused, by stallions with a bit of depravity to them… and perhaps that could explain her two children, sons of Kirin and Carnage. She’d never admit her attraction, of course, for her gracious mother raised her to be a lady, and despite their fathers, she tried to raise her sons to be gentlemen and gave them all the love she knew how. But they had grown and left her now, and while she did miss them, she found it nice to no longer worry about them accidentally starting a forest fire or God-forbid, saying an inappropriate word. (Yes, she ranked that worse than dangerous pyrotechnics.)

So, without rowdy children to keep an eye on, she found herself stretching out her wings in relaxation. And despite her attempt at alertness, she yawned and found it increasingly difficult to keep her eyes fully open. The fog was just so wonderful, like a gentle blanket luring her to sleep. It wasn’t until the morning fog had truly dissipated and the sun was shining high overhead that she snapped her eyes open. Something was off… she had a feeling she wasn’t alone. Quickly she glanced around, but saw nothing of concern. Mostly to placate herself, she followed up with a curious but hesitant whinny.

    Of course! <3

look what you made me do.
Unaware of him creeping up on her, wings loose at her sides and yawning with the threat of sleep. Almost wolf like he stalks closer to her. While he had never been as tall or bulky as other stallions it had always seemed to work out in his favor. He had been made perfectly for one of his depravity. His leanness made him agile, his smaller size helped him sneak effectively. And the red eyes always helped him appear that much more sinister.

The fog begins to dissipate and as the morning sun clears the air, she becomes more alert. He moves quickly to one of the few trees that spatter the open meadow and folds his legs neatly beneath him, sinking quickly to the earth. By the time her nervous gaze is in his direction, she sees nothing out of place. Her hesitant whinny rings through the air and he lazily looks in her direction… And returns it with the piercing call of his own voice.

Hooves find sturdy footing beneath him as he gracefully stands and closes the remaining distance between them. Crimson eyes glitter dangerously as he lightly brushes against her extended wing, turning his head to make full eye contact with her. Not a word is spoken, instead he let’s his magic go to work. The iris’s of his red eyes contract and glitter like shiny rubies as he glimmers before the mare. As he reaches inside her to pluck out that she desires most in the secret depths of her beating heart.

Rude and intrusive, just what he likes best.

I'm hoping this is still a go even though Taiga is gone?
