    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

Purple eyes skimmed the water, gazing at the fish that hastily swam past. Curiously, she dipped a dark purple hoof into the cold water, attempting to nudge one of the fish. The glimmering mare quickly withdrew as one of the fish jumped, splashing her and causing her to stumble backwards. Huffing, she turned away and began walking along the opposite direction of the river.

Saccharine preferred to stay by the water, she often felt annoyed by everything around her, but somehow the cold water helped calm her. Pausing, she dipped her soft nose into the river, enjoying the feeling of the rushing water against her skin.

The surrounding foliage provided plenty of shade, their lush greenery dancing in the Summer breeze. A gentle sigh escaped her, as she allowed the stress held in her muscles to melt away.

The River is Chem’s favored haunt, always has been, or at least in the last 25 to 30 years it has been. He had raised Kota here, among many other fond memories. Today is hot, so the cold river-water feels perfect on his worn, sore muscles. He’s been travelling a lot lately – not to mention he’s still recovering from his experiences in the eclipse. Something about the putrid poison, obviously something demonic, lingered in him still, slowly leaving his body. He’s been meaning to pay his daughter a visit in Pangea soon, her healing magic is strong, he’s sure it could rid him completely of the clinging effects of the poison. His scar is something nasty still, but it will heal in time. Three jagged claw rakes are scabbed over, blood caking his coat where it cracks and bleeds sometimes. The water also helps soothe the mending wound.

It's been a long day already, he hasn’t slept in 38 hours or something close, which is sort of normal for him; but he’s tired today. He walks along the edge looking for a nice shallow spot with a soft bottom, quiet water to lay in while the sun warms him. It’s something he loves to do. He often naps half submerged, laying his head on a flat rock, or even the riverbank if its close enough.

A figure in the distance makes him pause, she jumps at a fish splash and walks on. Chem’s inclined to follow her, not particularly stealthy but not loud either, walking along far behind. Wherever she chooses to go by the water he comes up close beside her, walking up from behind. His smile is genuine, but a bit too sure, a predatory confidence. “Hello.” his granite voice is just above the sound of tumbling water. He descends down the shallow bank and into the river, taking a long drink after wading in to his knees. He looks back over his shoulder, water dripping down his chin, down his smooth fur on his shoulder. “Beautiful.” he stares at her, looking her over before drawing in a breath, “A beautiful day, isn’t it?” he turns and finds a shallow spot on the side, a perfect laying spot, and plops himself down to lay half in the cold water. He exhales in relief, “Ah,” he looks back over to her, “Much better.” he pauses for just a second, “What’s your name, Snowdrop?” he smirks deviously.
