It falls to him then.
Him. Lauchlan. Pathetic little loser that has a pair of chewed off wings and turns into a spider when he poops.
It falls to him to find her. Well, him and Magnus. But Lauchlan has a strong suspicion that if anyone is going to fail this mission, it’s not going to be the strong and handsome ruler of Tephra.
The thought weighs heavily on his mind as he steps out into the meadow. He has, for all of his life, been rather inadequate. Physically awkward and clumsy, socially even more so … not exactly the sort well suited to tracking down a missing person, and potentially rescuing them.
But Raeg’n is, well, all he’s got. And he might not be quite all she’s got, but he knows that she would try to move heaven and earth to find him if he ever disappeared on her. What kind of friend would he be if he wasn’t willing to try to at least attempt the same?
His heart is heavy but his head high as his brown eyes scan through the horses dotting the meadow. He knows it’s a long shot to find her here (after all, if she was here she would’ve simply come home by now), but it’s as good a place to start as any.
His head lifts higher, nose testing the cool winter air. “RAEG’N?” But she’s not here of course. Just as he’d dreaded, expected. This is foolish.
But where on earth does he go next?
