    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

but when you wake up she's always gone, gone, gone; any

    Clarisse
The circumstances had changed drastically, this ridiculous form of control, of dominance was pathetic. Even her father was smarter than the sick red toned man that stood before him, and she called him a fool. First escorting, and sickness? Now a layer of lies that hid him from his horrid crime he was about to commit. She WILL NOT let this little girl live as a slave, to a man of sickness plagued by his own demise.

She's had enough of this. Their bickering. His control. His LIES. And she watches not in fear, but in rage as this child becomes not a being but a possession, not a creature with her own thoughts and ideas she was a rock in his eyes, and she will not let another little girl waste. She WILL NOT let Eri live of life of his lies.

She allows her self to back up towards Eri as the two bicker, excluding herself from the argument. Her velvet reaches out to the girl, running gently along her azure spine, trying to regain her trust. Her dark chocolate eyes lock with the little girl's and with a soft whisper, attainable to only Eri's ears she speaks, "Do you trust me?" there's a short pause in her words as Clari allows herself to glance at the two still bickering like children. "When I move, follow. Stay to my left, and press yourself tightly onto my side." She whispers, to the sweet girl. It was the only way they would get out of this, using her body to shield Eri, to protect her from him. Even if she was putting herself at stake. She couldn't see this little girl waste away, beneath him.

Her movement is quickly, her lobes pins as she pushes Etojo to the right and out of the way. Her body curled almost around Eri, as an ebony hind leg prevailed with a warning rising up prepared to swing a kick at the red barbarian. Her gaze meets Lucrezia, and with pinned ears, she lashes out not afraid to shove her way through out of the hallow. Allowing her hind to swing out at Etojo. She nails him in the chest, it isn't enough force to injure him drastically but it is enough force to enforce a warning.

Shoving herself past the mare, the ebony maiden is released into the freedom of the adoption den. Eric glued to her side, she can't help but gaze down at the girl her nostrils flaring her ears remained pinned awaiting for Etojo to foolishly come running. She can't help but think of how brave Eri was, how she managed to escape a sickened creature. And then all Clarisse can think of is, Isichia. Her home.

Her head turns, allowing her pace to quicken slightly aware that Etojo might choose to strike. "Eri, I'm sorry about earlier it wasn't my place to force onto you, a new mother." She paused her silky vocals ring out in the silenced air. "But, perhaps in my homeland, Isichia we can search for your mother. How does that sound?" Her head bobs, as she quickens her pace dark chocolate yes remain on the blue girl beside her.

Here it comes with no warning; capsize, i'm first in the water
Lucrezia watches as everything changes quickly into one. She has never seen such emotions change quickly on Etojo—not even the feeling of shock. It seemed like nothing before this would ever touch him. Lucrezia draws her emotions inwards, concealing the disgust and repulsion she felt moments ago.

She watches as he looks at himself, studying something as if it had been there before. Lucrezia does not know what or even if anything had been there. Years separate them from once when they knew each other. She knows she has changed from the last time she has seen Etojo. He is probably changed to, and maybe that makes them strangers now. Strangers that shared something long ago, in an old forgotten world she holds onto dearly some days.

Etojo returns his gaze back to her. There was an obvious hint of hurt, but quickly masked away. Lucrezia caught just a tiny glimpse of it. “Etojo,” she whispers softly. She takes a step forward but stops before proceeding anymore closer to the chestnut. The anger is obvious in his expression and eyes. She falls silent again but still watching him carefully.

He comes towards her, anger still smeared on his face. Lucrezia stands still like a boulder in the middle of the field. She is too stubborn to move if he has come to force his way or something worse. However, her ear flicks curiously when he orders her. She had never liked taken orders from him in her life. It was something she learned long ago when she was a filly.

She studies him for a moment, nodding her head softly. The mare side-steps out of the way of the chestnut but before she could move fully there is a bursting of two others. Lucrezia is slammed to the side as the other mare and filly makes their way out—an escape. For one moment she had forgotten about them. Her eyes had met the gaze of the other mare, Clarisse. She is glad the mare and filly are free—free from the grasps of Etojo.

Lucrezia shakes her head and fins her balance again on the ground. She stares at Etojo for just a moment and turns quickly, fleeing as well from the hollow like mare and filly did moments ago. She does not bear to linger there longer, to find what else she might learn about Etojo. In truth, displaying such nastiness to him hurts her. Lucrezia sighs softly, quickly leaving the hollow and the adoption den behind.
    ...too close to the bottom.

Eri has NO idea what’s going on. It’s all just happening way too fast for her young mind to comprehend.

Her brown eyes scan her surroundings rapidly, looking for an escape from the arguing adults, but unfortunately the corner she’s backed herself into is too closed off. There’s no way for her to run past the adults unnoticed and back in to the deeper parts of the den where the faerie lives.

But suddenly Clari is backing up towards her, and Eri’s blue limbs freeze in place as the mare slips in beside her. “Do you trust me?” The filly shakes her head. She doesn’t trust the mare - she doesn’t like that Clari told her she could call her Mommy. But she trusts the two bickering horses even less … so when the mare whispers instructions on how to escape, the girl whispers “ok” in reply. And, when the dark mare begins to move, she follows her instructions to the letter, sticking tot he mare’s left side and pressing her little body as close to her as possible.

She follows and watches as the darker mare swings out at the stallion, nailing him in the chest (she can’t help but let out a small giggle at the look on his face), and then their gone, moving at a fast pace out of the den, and away.

As the run, the mare’s head turns just enough for Eri to hear her. She offers to take Eri to her own home, to Ischia, and offers to help find her mother. And while Eri is stil unsure, she knows it’s the best possible answer for her. “Ok.” She nods at the mare. “And thank you.”
