    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The appaloosa woke up at the top of a mountain, not only was it strange he couldn’t remember falling asleep nor waking up here he surely didn’t remember a mountain in Beqanna!! He looked around, stepping closer to the edge he could not see the Kingdoms below. Where did the Kingdoms go!! WHAT WAS GOING ON! He was so confused, he needed to find the others, he needed to find Gyps! He was able to see a few at the bottom of the mountain and decided to find a way down as well.

He eventually made his way down from the mountain, he almost fell a few times but he did it! When he reached the bottom a bunch of equines were clustered together, but none of them were Gyps. He released a whinny from his maw frantically looking for her, but he didn’t see her. Maybe she got spooked and ran off. He moved to what appeared to be the same old meadow, but as he left the mountain his horn vanished. The stallion slid to a halt, his head felt lighter! He couldn’t feel the horn WHAT IN THE WORLD WAS GOING ON! He was scared at this point, but he wanted to see Gyps, he needed to see her.

GYPS! he screamed while running through the meadow, this at least was the same as before. His ebony and blue beauty was not in eye sight, he grew worried, he needed to know she was safe. Gyps! Please he begged for an answer. He came to a halt and drooped his head, what if she didn’t make the transition? Did the faeries kill off equines? No, he would refuse to believe that, She was around here somewhere!

The light that shines so bright.

She didn’t understand what had happened to her and she had even needed more time to let the reality of Beqanna’s words settle in. She understood, or at least, she tried too. But at the same time it was like she got punished for something she had barely taken a part in. She had lived a quiet life until she had been imprisoned in Archam’s herd, but even then she hadn’t done anything that would result in all this, right?

But when she took actual time to think about things, Gyps would have to admit that her heart hadn’t been pure and honest. Like how she had favoured Andras over his twin brother Francois, same with their father, Archam. She had looked down on him – partly because of anger, but also because he didn’t have anything special with him. At the other side, Beqanna couldn’t punish her for being mad, after all, she had been the one that got wronged in the arrangement her mother had made with Archam. But she had behaved like a spoiled child, instead of dealing with it like the almost adult that she was.

Anyway, Gyps had somehow managed to get down the mountain without major injuries or trouble. The thing that happened at the border between the mountain and meadow had confused her somewhat. Her wings had been taken away, to be replaced by another set of wings. Traits had to be earned back, but to not leave the completely bare Beqanna had given her a temporary set of wings? They were different than her bluish gray ones, now completely black, but at least they worked the same.

It’s because of the wings that she’s able to find him with some ease. Flying made it possible for the blue haired mare to move around much quicker than on the ground, but she could also scan the horses in the meadow from the sky quite easily. Gyps knew that he had to be here. Her heart told her, she could feel it. ”Andras!” she exclaims, but his name gets carried away by the wind as she’s descending. She lands, a bit rusty and not as elegant as she would normally do, before hurrying to his side. ”Andras!” This time her voice should be able to reach him, although it’s slightly broken due to the tears that are in her eyes. He was here, he really was. Her muzzle reaches out to press against his, before she pushes herself up at his side.

His head drooped as he lost hope that he would find her, he has caught up with a bunch of the others but he could not find her. She was all he truly cared about, she was the only equine he wanted to find, but he couldn’t find her. There was so many equines in Beqanna perhaps she didn’t make it out alive, but he refused to believe it.

He looked up at what he thought was his name being called, the scent of Gyps ran through his nares and his eyes lit up and ears perked forward. Gyps? he said questioningly hoping it truly was her. The black and blue mare made an appearance, although her wings had changed colors, but at least she had wings. His horn was still gone, he heard of asking for temporary traits but he rather work for his back.

His heart was thumping out of his chest at the sight of her, all of his worries were gone and he was relieved to have her in sight again. She had tears in her eyes, he hoped they were tears of joy at least, he reached his neck out to nuzzle her cheek gently, moving in closer he rubbed his head against her neck. I was so worried I wouldn’t find you! he spoke with fear in his voice, Are you okay? he asked stepping back to scan her over. She appeared to be okay, and they needed to find a place to be together The other horses already started claiming lands, we should start our own or join one! they had to move quick, his dear friend Romek was already willing to let them stay in his lands.

The light that shines so bright.

She hadn’t asked for anything, heck, she hadn’t even understand what happened to her upon leaving the mountain. The sensation had been odd and her beautiful bluish wings were taken away, replaced by white Pegasus ones. Still feathered, but a different color. But they worked the same, so honestly, it wasn’t that bad she supposed. And they helped her finding her lover, making their reuniting much and much easier.

Her nose finds its way towards his mane, brushing through them as she deeply breathed in his scent. It was really him and as far as she could see right now he was okay. Yes, his horn was gone, but at least he wasn’t hurt. It had been the horn that made her favour him, but at this moment his well-being was more important. Maybe that was the message Beqanna had wanted her to learn. Pulling back a little Gyps offers him a smile, tears still evident in her eyes, ready to be spilled. ”I’m fine. And you? Are you okay?” worried is laced in her voice and she eagerly presses her nose to his as she awaits his answer.

Andras is eager to continue, to just be happy to have found each other and move forward without looking back. Perhaps that was what they all were supposed to do, maybe it would be for the better, but what about her parents? Yes Gyps was still very angry about the whole thing with Archam – the good thing of the change was that she got freed of him – but she loved her parents nonetheless and didn’t wish them any harm. At the other side, she would blindly follow Andras. After all, she would’ve done the same before the change, when he had promised her to take her away from the herd and towards the kingdom he lived in.

”I’ll go anywhere with you, Andras. I only know the simple herd life, the Golden Plains ruled by my father or the Cobblestone Creek ruled by yours. What do you want?” She trusted him enough to let the decision be his, but if he would ask what she preferred – after explaining their options – she would voice out her honest opinion. The distance between them grew too big for Gyps’ liking, moving closer again she nestles herself at his side, wings folded and between them. Oh, how much she longed to nestle underneath his wings and let the feeling comfort her, just like her father had always done when she had been a filly. But he has none. And that was perfectly fine.

"But.. Have you heard something of my family?"

It was nothing short of relief to hear that she was okay and unharmed. His heart fluttered with joy, anxious for what the future brings. Their noses were touching and he gently played with her whiskers, happy to have be reunited with her, a feeling he couldn’t explain. He gave a dip of his head in response to her question Yes, I am fine, glad to be with you again

He insisted they find a home together, and yet again she did not fail him. She said she would go anywhere with him, the Cobblestone and Golden Plains was all she knew. He smiled and nudged her shoulder for reassurance I met up with my friend Romek before I found you, he claimed a land called Tiaga, and he recruited me. He is really great and I think we should go there. he looked at her as she moved closer, nuzzling beside him. Everything she did was perfect, he extended his neck to trail his maw down her mane, gently tugging at a piece here and there.

He stopped when she asked about her family, he didn’t really know what to say, he didn’t even think of them. Rumor is his father had died, and his mother died a year after his birth. He shook his head No, I haven’t seen them. Truth be told he probably couldn’t pick her mother and father out in a crowd, he had no idea what they looked like.

The light that shines so bright.

Her heart flutters as he expresses his joy of their reunion and it reliefs her to hear that he, too, is doing well. For a moment she just enjoys their proximity, bashing herself in his attention. It has scared her so much when he had been ripped away from her side – or she from his? – and then did Gyps not even mention the whole mountain thing yet. Or the thing that happened to them, what had changed her wings and taken his horn. She had to admit that she disliked seeing him without it, but he was Andras nonetheless. And Andras was the one holding her heart. As she opens her eyes again they twinkle in mischief and without giving any other warning she playful nips at his head.

She grows serious again when he starts telling her about what he had done before he had found her. He speaks about making new friends, being recruited and them having claimed a land. So apparently their future was already decided. However, it doesn’t bother her. Gyps is fully aware of the fact that she had reacted badly when her parents had decided her future before, but the black and blue mare had learned from the past. ”Is this where you want you want to settle yourself? Where you want us to live?” she asks, voice soft and with genuine interest. As long as it was with him, it wouldn’t matter to her where she lived. Before she steps back to look at him she reaches out to brush her muzzle across his cheek. ”What is the place like, that Taiga you speak off? Is it a good place to live?”

It doesn’t surprise her to hear he didn’t have any news of her parents, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t sadden her. She nods, gaze travelling away for some time. He too hadn’t seen either of them. Maybe because he didn’t know them, but Gyps was sure that Andras would recognize them if he saw them. She took after them so much. Her father, Phaedrus, was black with cobalt blue mane and her mother, Besra, supported the sky blue that was seen in Gyps’ tail. There simply was no way of mistaking them.
