Gale this is going to break me clean in two -- this is going to bring me close to you
Gale is learning how to identify the signs that his Curse is stirring, how to handle the strange thrill of adrenaline that comes alongside with it. What he struggles with the most is the results of the many reckless choices its influence has caused.
His decision to come to Hyaline. The thing in the woods. Mazikeen’s pregnancy.
Winter is already touching the lands that Gale flies over, but Gale’s attention is not on the scenery. He is thinking of the twins - a boy and a girl - growing within their mother. The brindle stallion had not wanted to be a father, but Gale has been getting very little of what he wants lately.
Yet as he flies toward Silver Cove this morning, the brindle warrior is confident that this day will change that pattern. The entity whose magic gives the land an extra layer of protection currently resides in this peninsula, and Gale intends to bring it back to Hyaline. Mazikeen wants it, but Gale wants it for her even more. Not only for the free time it will allow her, as they'd teased, but for the protection it might provide from the Curse.
Unsure who or what lives here, Gale makes no secret of his arrival. He arrives in his true shape, a navy stallion whose cremello markings hardly see to glow in the bright morning light. His wings are snowy white, matching the mane that grows the length of his spine and the broad blaze on his handsome face.
As he lands, he folds the feathered wings to his sides and then into them, the gesture making it clear to anyone who might be watching that Gale is more than meets the Eye. He lets out a whicker, summoning anyone who might be within earshot and nosing curiously at the sparse grasses that grow between the beach stones if he waits long.
