    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?
Loess was beginning to become a little too boring for his liking. After exploring the corners of the kingdom, he couldn’t help himself to explore further beyond the kingdom now. He could have left the kingdom a long time ago as the regime had changed since he was kidnapped and they had left him in the dark without protection (forgetting he even had existed). But something about the newly crowned leader bringing a group of mercenaries together had intrigued his interest. After all, he felt no need to go find his parents who certainly, in his opinion, did not come looking for him.

Titus found himself wandering over to the familiar playground he had first found himself in after “escaping” from Loess only to return back. If it had not been for his new found friendship, he likely would not have returned to the kingdom and perhaps would have found his way back to Nerine. But that was not the way it had happened. Titus had decided to make his own plans since that day.

He isn’t sure why he is back in the playground. So he allows himself to wander across the terrain of safety, as the fairy watches over the children to ensure their haven is not ruined or children do not slip away. His nutmeg eyes search across the terrain, eyeing each set of foals that are obviously younger than him. It isn’t until now that he realizes he is the oldest here, and from his knowledge, that meant he could be the king of this place. Well, until that pesky fairy comes along and says I cannot! He thinks to himself with a wide smirk running across his mouth from ear to ear.

Titus looks for the closest foals he can find. It was time to start some mischief—after all it was only some good old fun. He didn’t care who the foals would be. Hell, it could have been the ruling horse’s children itself from one of the kingdoms for call he cared. What was a little bullying going to do? Damage them for life? He doubts that considering they likely weren’t kidnapped from their homes like Venus and him were.

Eventually, the yearling spots a set of twins not far off in the distance. Titus’ smirk remains on his lips but this time his eyes glimmer for mischief. He shifts easily within his ocelot form—this time he has mastered the ability than he was last time in the playground—and makes his way towards them. The ocelot boy moves quickly, paws making precise grip onto the terrain beneath him.

He sneaks around a tree, enclosed by large bushes, where the twins lay on the other side. Titus rounds on the set of twins from the other side of the tree and bushes, pouching towards the duo who obviously are playing together. He clearly doesn’t care for what they are doing, only that he gets to cause some trouble for them and have a little fun.

Pushing himself between them and then swiftly turning around to face them, inches away from their own bodies, his smirk still remains. “What’s going on here?” he asks, turning his gaze to each one back and forth.

Mother and Father barely let the twins breath, they were always in eye sight and it could be hard to have true fun. After plenty of begging and being on there best behavior mother agreed to let them go to the playground. The twins had heard foals from all kingdoms played here! This was something they wanted since they heard of it! After all, the faeries protect the foals keeping them safe from any real danger. They made it to the playground, but it was with no doubt that mother was nearby.

They had seen a few other foals but they were all already speaking to others. They did not mind not meeting anyone new, it was nice to be away from there parents for the first time. They were playing with each other, wrestling and tugging at each other manes. They were distracted by there own play to hear another approaching, they were startled when they heard the voice of another and when they turned around he was shifted into an ocelot!

They did not have time to process the fact that there was another ocelot shifter, Agapi was startled and shifted into a sparrow taking flight to the nearest branch. Agave was always more protective and willing to defend the twins, especially with her having ocelot shifting. She shifted into her ocelot form and moved up close to the opposing cat, sizing him. Nothing anymore! A low hiss escaped her maw, annoyed at the disturbance of there fun. Its okay Agapi, you can come down, her eyes do not leave the other ocelot as she spoke. Agapi obeys, she fluttered down from the branch and when her feet touched the ground she shifted back into her foal form. Who are you? Agapi demands. They had never met another shifter, let alone an ocelot shifter! Was this a coincidence?

The look on their face is priceless to him. It makes his present smile on his lips grown even wider than before. He always liked having the upper hand in any situation. This time it would be fun though.

However, it all happened a little too fast.

Suddenly one of them shifted into a bird-like creature, rushing past him to the nearest branch. “Wow!” Titus yells out. “Watch what you are doing, dumb bird!” He snarls in distaste. But he cannot help but think how much the bird looked like Venus’s own bird form she had used to shift into.

Turning his attention back to the other filly he notices now that she has morphed into an ocelot as well. “What the heck,” he says out loud, shocked just as much as they had been when he had appeared in front of them minutes ago.

The ocelot-shifting filly sizes him up, challenging him already. She hisses at him even too! What is she even thinking! Titus certainly couldn’t imagine someone challenging him, let alone standing up against him. Did they think they could out smart him?

She then calls him the bird-shifter who happens to be called Agapi. Titus takes note of that. It seemed it would be valuable if needed—after all every piece of information he learned would be important since he was a mercenary.

“Who am I?” he asks when the bird-shifter shifts back into the foal he had seen first and then asks him. “The question is who are YOU both!” He wouldn’t be the one being pushed around. “I will be the one asking the questions here now,” he states firmly, “So tell me who you both are and where you come from.”

There! That’s more like it, he praises himself with a soft smirk gracing his light creamed lips.

This guy was a bully! What business did he have here? Why was he picking on Agave and Agapi? His attention shifted to Agapi when she shifted into her bird form, he was clearly annoyed as he yelled at her. Agapi was the quieter of the two and Agave took it upon herself to always protect and defend her sister. Agave was now in her ocelot form and when the boy turned back he was shocked to see a smaller version of himself. He caused a chuckle to escape her maw Didn't expect that huh? her voice expressed anger and her teeth were just barely showing.

He was silent for a few moments, he was probably not used to others standing up to him. Good! Agave thought to herself, it is about time someone stands up to this bully! Though the silence does not last long and Agave rolls her eyes when he speaks again he refuses to answer her question and instead asks them who they are. I will be the one asking questions his tone was more violent and it only fueled the fire. He repeats the question again, demanding to know who the twins were and where they came from.

Agave sat down and began to lick her paw, perhaps if she showed a lack of interest it would make him more mad than returning the anger. Agave.... Agapi mumbled as the foal stood behind her sister, Agave flicked a gaze to Agapi before she returned back to the bully. Well, my name is Agave and this is my sister Agapi. she continued to lick her paw, just barely keeping her gaze on the spotted feline. We are sisters, we come from Nerine. She slowly lowered her paw and stood up attempting to size up to him again, though he was bigger.

Now that wasn't so hard, you surely have a lot to say. What is your name stranger, and were do you belong? A low hiss vibrated through her neck. Agapi stood a safe distance behind Agave though she had plenty of questions for this feline as well. Are your parents shifters as well? her tone was not as harsh as her sister, in fact it was gentle We have never seen another ocelot in beqanna. they also never left Nerine before today....it was still an interesting discovery, one to note. Were there others out there with the same shifting abilities? Animals the twins thought were unique to there own family lines.

one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?
Of course he didn’t expect that. It wasn’t often you saw another one that could shift into someone like you, let alone when it seemed your father was the only ocelot around in this hellhole world called Beqanna. Titus, however, doesn’t allow her words to sway him away from what is happening. Agave is obviously angry by the way her teeth barely showed. It seemed she was already on edge about the whole joke—did they really think he was that big of a bully?

Titus smirks at her, allowing his own teeth to show themselves a bit more than hers. He meant business and he wasn’t afraid to use his if he must. After all, Titus was bigger than her and he knew he could easily have the upper hand if necessary.

Obviously it seemed they showed no fear in him by ignoring his question not once but twice. It was rather irritating for Titus. He always would be the one getting the answers, and finding someone to challenge him was even more aggravating. Agave clearly didn’t care for what was happening, or even that he was ready to pounce on her. Instead she is taking her time and decides at this very moment to groom herself.

The ocelot boy doesn’t care to conceal his anger at the two other fillies. He clearly will start something to get his point across. However, it seemed at least one of them had some sense in their minds. Titus snorts in praise at Agapi. The bird-shifting filly seemed much easier to tame, he could at least control her more than the ocelot-shifter. Then again, it seemed Agape’s sister had some control over her too—enough to get her to talk and answer his questions.

“Nerine!?” Titus blurts out in shock. The anger he held within his facial features falls away quickly. He did not expect them to be from Nerine. Titus had almost forgotten about that place. A home he should have went back to, but he found himself becoming part of something bigger, something better. The boy shakes his head, clearing his mind from thinking about his parents and the topical terrain. “That cannot be possible,” he says after a few moments before noticing Agave has found interest in him again.

Titus pulls himself together, concealing his emotions of shock now with a more serious expression. He would not be easily toyed with by this other ocelot-shifter. But, he cannot help think that there is something about these twins are too familiar now—something was completely off about them. “You can throw the act down now,” he growls back in answering her own low hiss. He won’t be dealing with such games anymore.

Agapi then spoke up. It was her soft voice that brought his attention to her. His nutmeg eyes lock onto her own brown ones. “My parents are something like that, yes.” He answers easily, not even showing anger towards her. Titus didn’t feel angry when he spoke to her. Something within him told him he needed to be gentler—he almost instinctively wanted to be gentler towards her. “My father is half-horse and half-ocelot while my mother can shift into a bird,” he pauses for a moment, starting to draw the connection together. It seemed impossible though. Was it possible? “Just like you,” he adds, staring strangely at Agapi.

Titus takes a step back from the two filly twins. Nutmeg gaze switching between the two girls quickly. Finally, he takes note more of what they look like. The familiarity in their eyes are obvious. However, it was the shifting even more that made him conclude his thoughts. “That’s because our family is the only ocelot-shifters,” he says flatly. Were they really his sisters? Titus cannot help but assume they were. Obviously they were younger and shifters as well—just like him and Venus. “And I am Titus, your older brother,” he says softly before falling silent and staring both at them.

It was almost as though he shifted through a few emotions before ensuring he did not break his hardened appearance. Agave was probably not the smartest challenging another who was larger than her, and it did not make things better that she added fuel to the fire knowing exactly how to create sparks. He bared his teeth in return to her threat, an interesting move that she did not expect.

His anger was apparent, it only made Agave want to mess with him more, really see how far he would go. He probably never found someone who would stick up for themselves, the other foals probably cowered and seeked a way out from the conversation he started. Agapi was the calmer and more nervous one of the pair, and it seemed as though this bully seemed to agree with Agapi as she requested her sister to remove them from the situation.

A snort escaped Agave, annoyed at the gesture of this male cat. Though she attempted to speak she could not get a word out before he screamed Nerine. Her eyes looked at him with confusion yea, what are you shouting for! She stood up once again, she really wanted to bop him on the nose but she stood there staring at him instead.

His face quickly faded from anger to confusion and a hint of sorrow that cannot be possible he yells out and this time Agave turned to Agapi and they both shared a confused look. Agave shifted from her feline form into her equine form, her solid gold pattern differed from her sisters spotted pelt. He attempted to gather himself, his forcing a serious front. You can throw the act down now he spat out and she nearly shifted back into a cat and clawed him why don't you take your own medicine! Agave snorted stomping her front leg. Agapi stepped closer to her sister, her shoulder beside her rump. Why does Nerine interest you? You don't carry the scent of Nerine the quiet sister spoke up.

He answered Agapi's question about his parents, his tone was calmer with her confirming that his parents were something like shifters. Though it is what he says next that leaves both the twins stunned, my father is half horse half ocelot they both flicked there heads to each other and back to Titus, it was almost as if they practiced. WHAT! they both yelled out, that's not possible! Sure it was probable that another horse looked like there father....but what are the chances that he really existed? There father was the only one of his kind!

He mentions sparrow shifting and turns to Agapi noting the shifting was just like her. This was all to weird for the twins...who in the world was this guy! He steps back from the twins our family is the only ocelot shifters he said and Agave couldn't help but blurt out a laugh. Agave! Agapi nearly begged her sister to collect herself, Why did you say our family? Are you implying we are related! Agave snorted as she stepped closer to the young feline. He goes on to to introduce himself as Titus, there old brother and Agave rolled her eyes Oh please! Don't play games! If we have the same family why aren't you in Nerine with us? she snorts, would there parents really keep there siblings a secret from them? Agapi steps away from her sister and closer to Titus Agave...look at him....he is just like you...he has to be related to us... A pain stung the young filly, how could this be? Won't you come back to Nerine with us....? Surely there parents wanted to see him.

one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?

It felt all too surreal for him.

The connections are there. Every bit aligned together perfectly. Each of the pieces fit together like a puzzle.

Still, it did not feel real to the ocelot-shifter. Titus could not wrap his mind around the idea that this was happening. But it was. It really was happening to him!

The twin fillies’ reaction to what he said had left them confused. He could read it easily across their face. They probably thought of him as some crazy teenage boy now, but he knew he wasn’t wrong. Maybe he was?

    No, I’m not!

Titus watches as Agave shifts into her own equine form. There is obviously a difference in this coats, but their colors didn’t need to match in order for him to make the connection. Agapi was exactly the same color as his twin sister!

Before he can say anything about their coats, Agave shifts back into her ocelot form and attempts to maul him. Titus jumps back several steps. “Control her, Agapi!” He snorts with irritation.

His attention then turns to Agapi. She at least is more reasonable, thank god. The boy wouldn’t have been able to handle both of the girls if they had similar personalities like Agave. He found her to be a bit of trouble—something similar to himself, in fact.

“Nerine was my home,” he replies back to Agapi. There is longing in his voice when he mentions it. Nerine was no longer his home. Loess is where he called home now. Should he even tell them about how Venus and him were kidnapped? It was a likely story that they should have heard. Well, if his parents had carried to mention him. He doubted they did… here he was now finding out he had younger siblings!

Their reaction to what he says next is quite shocking to the pair. “I’m not lying,” he says firmly to them in answering back their shocked statements. Titus wouldn’t be taken for a liar even how bizarre and impossible the situation really was.

However, it seemed Agave wasn’t having it with the whole thing. She blurted out with a laugh that sent a dark frown onto the ocelot-boy’s lips. Thankfully he didn’t have to do the scolding. Agapi stepped right up for him.

Of course that doesn’t stop the little brat. Does she even have a grip on herself and what she is doing? Titus cannot help but think with anger. He doesn’t allow himself to fall into his emotional stages of his temper he seems to have lately. Instead, he holds himself in a calmer way than playing into the games of Agave and her little tantrums.

“Yes, I am implying we are related. We are blood-related. We are FAMILY.” He puts more emphasis on the last word he says. Titus glances away from the twins for a moment. He doesn’t say anything or look towards them until Agapi comes over to him and is finished speaking. “You don’t know then, do you?” There is sadness in his voice.
Titus lets out a huff of anger and betrayal. His eyes narrow at both of the twins. “You wouldn’t know because our parents are ashamed. Ashamed we were even born and for letting us be kidnapped!” His anger unfolds, throwing away any calm demeanor he ever had. “They never came looking for us. They didn’t even care!” How could they just forget us so easily like that?

“Well there you have it, the very truth!”

He shakes his head when the girl mentions going to Nerine. “Are you that naïve?” Why would they want to see him? They wouldn’t care back then, why would they now? “They don’t want anything to do with me.” Titus takes a step back from the twins. “And neither should you,” he whispers softly, sorrow is obviously heard in his last words.

Agapi flinches with fear as this supposed brother of hers yells at her to control Agave. She only snorts before Agave settles yea yea... agave thinks to herself.

The now ocelot filly rolls hers eyes at Titus, talking about how unbearable she was. You must be the annoying one if you haven't met someone like me. She retorts back at him.

Agave shifts back into her equine form once again, the two fillies stand shoulder to shoulder listening as Titus notes Nerine was once his home. The tone in his voice noted a hint of heartache...but he quickly masked it. They both doubted the relations but it all made too much sense... Where do you live now if not Nerine? Agapi asks, her eyes slightly glance to Agave before settling on Titus.

Titus goes on to state that they are one hundred percent related and the twins glance at each other once more. They did not have to speak to know what each other was thinking, why would there parents keep him from them?

It was then that Titus spoke again you don't know then? he says and Agave rolls her eyes know what? She snorts, impatient with this boy. His gaze flicks like a fire inside of him was lit, he blurts out that they don't know because Agave and Agapi's parents are ashamed....but what is it they are ashamed of? Before one of the twins could ask Titus explains, that they were kidnapped!

WAIT A MINUTE! Agave yells as she steps closer Who is us? There is another? THEY HAVE TWO SIBLINGS THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT?! This simply could not be true, how could there parents let them be stolen? Agapi says nothing, she only backs up a few steps shaking her head in disagreement.

Titus pipes up once again, this time going on about how their parents would not want to see him, how the twins should not want to know him. This time Agapi pipes up But we do want to know you! And the other? Her voice is meaningful You do not have to see our parents if you are not ready...but we you to be in our lives. Agapi steps closer, she extends her neck allowing her muzzle to touch his shoulder. Agave glares at the interaction and only spits out a snort Yea she responds looking away.

one day it's here and then it's gone,
how are you still holding on?

Titus rolls his eyes at Agave’s threat back at him. It wasn’t even worth getting into it with her. She was quite the handful from what he could tell. Except this was his sister, so she probably got it from the same person in their family as he did.

His focus is only on the twins at this moment. There was a part of him that wanted to run away, to hide from the fact that his past was finally catching up to him. Of course they would have more children, he grumbles silently to himself as he stares at the twin girls—his little twin sisters.

“Loess,” he says turning his gaze to Agapi to answer her question.

He dives into the entire story at this point. There was no holding back the emotions he was feeling right now. They were a mix of sadness, regret, and anger. Mostly anger. That’s what he clung onto most these days. It made everything better. It made everything make sense at least.

At the protest of Agave, Titus falls silent. His nutmeg eyes hold onto Agave’s own gaze. He can see the obvious in the situation right now. Their faces do not lie to Titus. “You don’t believe me do you,” he says as Agapi backs away from where she previously stood at her sister’s side. He turns his attention back to Agave, focusing on her would be best right now while his emotions roared like a storm beneath him at what he was hearing.

“Of course there is another. Your sister—I mean, Venus. Her name is Venus.” Venus he thinks, realizing he hasn’t seen his own sister in ages as well. Where could she even be right now? He had lost track of his own sister as well. How pathetic I am! He shakes his own head now, lowering his gaze then to the floor, staring at his own paws.

Everything seemed to be falling apart at this point.

However, it’s Agapi’s voice that pipes up. He lifts his eyes up to look at the quieter twin. Her words surprise him. Titus felt that there was no chance they believed him. He thought they had labelled him here and now as a liar, but he was wrong. Always he was wrong. “You do?” He asks quietly. Agapi confirms her words by stepping out and extending her muzzle to his shoulder. He accepts her tender touch and returns the gesture by placing his own muzzle on her neck.

Agape’s response is rather sour, but it’s not as worse as he might have imagined it be. “Oh, don’t be so sad,” he says turning to look at her. “We are family after all,” he smiles at the words. A large grin growing across his muzzle. He then turns to Agapi. “Thank you,” he confesses. It is sincere and from his own heart. “I’m sure Venus would like to meet you two as well. In fact, she probably would love knowing she had two younger sisters!” He laughs at the idea, even missing her more than ever too right now.

“But,” he says turning to a more serious tone, “One day I hope to see our parents again.” Deep down, despite how much he had hated his parents after being left in Loess, he always wanted to return home. “Not now. But someday I hope,” he adds.

@[Agave] I'm thinking we can end the thread there. Maybe Titus can now come visit Nerine and see his parents again with the twins since it's been some time I would say so it's perhaps more present, lol XD We can always put off the posts if you want too. I'm up for whatever! <3
