Because we can. She seeks him out in their cavern, knowing that this is where she will find him. Perhaps he is here, or perhaps he isn't. They wander together like the tide, overlapping and sloppy and inseparable, so if he isn't here now, he surely will be soon. Will he find her different than last time? What will he think of the way the Deserts scent is redolent on her skin? What would he think of her golden marking, the crook and flail etched proudly across her chest by Osiris? Apart from his gift to her, her diamonds like stars along her left cheek, the crook and flail are the only blemishes anywhere on her perfect black body. She knows that they have much to talk about, this new power couple that they've become. Both of them are leaders, rulers, of equal and opposite lands. Her kingdom the Deserts and his kingdom the Valley, longtime enemies now united in the most unlikely of ties. But were they so different, really? Were the lights, at the end of the day, anything more nor less than the darks? In today's world, loyalty to the kingdom matters more than anything. Her mind wanders as she waits for him to find her, and she thinks about the time underground, in the lair of Osiris. She remembers how convincingly Eight's voice had whispered into her mind then, how she'd felt so certain it was him. She remembers without regret how she had decided that he could save himself. She never worries about him, not that she would be inclined to; she knows that he, just like her, can take care of himself. The air around her is silent. This chamber is guarded by magical barriers set by both of them, strengthened by their mutual magic, impenetrable by even the most dedicated and devoted prying eyes or minds. No one will know that they are here, and no one will be able to tease out what they might discuss, or what they might do. This is their cocoon, their safety, and perhaps, their base of operations. There is war on the wind; she knows it as well as he does. Both of them were present when Eight gave his instructions to Warship and Straia, sending them off in the night with his grim designs. Camrynn may have been there in spirit rather than in body, but the things that she knows, she knows just the same. At last she smells his presence, feels his warmth melt into the cavern. Her lips curve up in a gentle grin. And because she feels like it, she does not approach him, does not stand closer to him, does not touch him, She simply remains, with one leg cocked, entirely at her ease. "Fancy meeting you here." The light catches spectacularly on her diamonds, creating rainbows as she speaks. C A M R Y N N Why? Because I can Image copyright MariannaInsomnia |
New thread because I'm a rebel and want to keep them segmented. And I like her new tagline.
